Last week , i had BBL treatment done at Aeon Medical and Aesthetics Clinic. It is different from the usual IPL ( Intense Pulse LIght ) . BBL stands for Broad Band Light. This machine has a broad range of wavelengths allow targeted treatment for many skin conditions. It helps to treat pigmentations , vascular lesions , hair removal , skin firming (Skin Tyte) and acne. It also helps to rejuvenate your skin.

After trying this BBL treatment , the discomfort is definitely less than that of the normal IPL machines used. The usual IPL is already painless but sometimes you can feel like someone “snapping” a rubberband onto your face but when i went for this BBL treatment , i don’t feel this sensation on my skin. This machine is also far more powerful and precise than the usual IPL machines and the “Rolls Royce” of all IPL machines.

Dr Kim is really patient to go through with me all my doubts and questions. Also , i went through a “BBL lesson” with me to know how the machines work. The Q&A with him helps me to understand more about IPLs and the different types of machines available and how different machines have different gradings and to treat different skin types and problems. The term “IPL” is just too broad.

Different skin types and problems requires different light spectrum to create the correct light frequency to treat. This requires alot of medical knowledge. So it is best to get your IPL treatments done with a doctor. That is one of the reason why i never trust spas or salons to perform IPLs on me.

A layer of cooling gel was applied on my skin before the BBL treatments starts. The gel helps to create a medium for when the light pulses were shot onto your skin.

One unique thing about the BBL machine is that it comes with Finesse size adaptors in various sizes and shapes so that it can reach places like the sides of your nose, round areas of your face and even a small specific spot. This is not possible with other IPL machines since the crystal is so large and big. The BBL also has a very advanced sapphire crystal which cools down before light pulses were shot into my skin. The cooling effect is important because it not only helps to reduce discomfort, but more importantly it helps to prevent burns. Most of other IPLs do not have any cooling system (especially the cheaper ones in spas or shops). I had IPL done on my legs few years back at other aesthetic clinic and it was the nurse who administer the IPL procedure. She did not spread the gel on a part of my leg properly and i suffered burn on my calf. I had a small round brown scar from the IPL because of that and it was painful and burning when the light was shot into my skin where there was no layer of gel or a very, very thin layer. I never go back to that clinic again!

Ok , back to my BBL treatment. Dr Kim went through my entire face and will always ask me if everything is ok and if i feel any discomfort. But i was surprised that i don’t feel any discomfort from this BBL treatment as compared to the usual IPL.

Comparing this BBL treatment to the usual IPL treatment , i will say the BBL definitely win hands down. My skin was really smooth and radiant.

The treatment took about 20-30 minutes.

After the treatment , i went for post treatment care facial to relax my skin by Elena.

Elena applied a lotion on my face and a machine was used to massage through my entire face for moisturizing effect. The machine helps the lotion to absorb deep into my skin.

After which , a mask sheet was place on my face and a LED lamp helps my skin to absorb the essence from the mask sheet and rejuvenate my skin.

And here is the picture (below) after the BBL treatment and post BBL treatment facial. My skin looks really smooth and clear. I do not need to put on any foundation or bases after that. The BBL Rejuvenation treatment should be done every 3-4 weeks for best results.

After the treatment , i put on my eyeliner, drew my eyebrown, put on my orange lipstick and style my hair with the hair straightener in the powder room. I love the powder room and i can just sit there and take lots of “selcas(selfies)”. Having good skin and feeling pretty after the BBL treatment and post BBL treatment facial care , of course i want to take lots of selcas. I was in and out of the clinic in only one hour so I was happy it didn’t take a large chunk out of my busy schedule!
