Last week , Fiona , her bf and i went to Kinsa Sushi at Ang Mo Kio Jubilee for dinner.
It was a family friendly restaurant serving Japanese cuisines and you can try unique sashimi such as flying fish sashimi. Unlike other japanese chain restaurants , you can expect better quality and not “factory-like” made sushi.

Here are the dishes we tried.

Kawa Ebi Karaage (Deep fried river shrimp)

This is very addictive and we keep popping it into our mouths non-stop. Taste like crackers and like a snack. Best to eat it while it is hot so it is more crispy !

Edamame

It is slightly salted and fresh. Another addictive starter where i cannot stop popping it from the pod.

To prove its freshness , it comes in stalks and not separated into separate pods.

Foie Gras Mizore Mushi ( Foie Gras Soup )

We gonna skip the chawanmushi and go for this instead. The soup is really clear and fragrant. Just like those clear chinese pork rib soup , the soup was clearly brewed and the foie gras was slightly pan-seared. I love this soup so much that i gulp down the entire bowl. Sooo yummy ! I will definitely go for this again next time. Gonna bring Oppa here and im sure he will love this.

Soo Gyu Don ( Waygu beef from Kagoshima , Japan )

This is dope ! Mix the onsen egg , rice and beef together and it tastes sooo great.
Goodness in a bowl. You will definitely go for 2nd round again. The beef was tender and not over cooked. The onsen egg adds in a little sweetness to the rice and beef.

Something i was waiting for.

Sashimi Moriawase ( Salmon Belly , Sea Bream , Swordfish , Sweet Shrimp, Scallops and Tuna Belly ).

Everything in this bowl was so fresh and sweet. I LOVE IT ! Especially the scallops and sword fish. The scallops were smooth and sweet. No fishy smell. Tuna belly and Salmon belly were thick and juicy. Looking at theses pictures made me hungry again.

If you noticed there are small little yellow flowers ?

You can pluck the petals and mix them with your wasabi and soya sauce for a little sweetness. Yes they are edible flowers.

You can try exotic sashimi at Kinsa Sushi such as Flying Fish and Clams. Their sashimi were flown here chilled from Japan instead of frozen to maintain its freshness.

Fried Seafood Roll.

Look at the thickness of the fried seafood in the roll. The servings were generous and for people who doesn’t like raw food , you can go for this roll. The salmon roe on top were abundant and the whole roll tasted really juicy. The sushi roll was neatly done.

Dragon Roll. 

I love Dragon rolls because of the avocados. It comes with Mango and Avocado tops. The prawn in the roll was crunchy to taste and fresh.

Special Aburi Sushi Platter. 

I love Aburi ! The top of the sashimi slices were slightly seared and bottom was fresh and juicy. My favourite goes to the Tuna , Salmon and Mentaki Scallop.

And we ended the day with Homemade Mango Cheesecake. Cheese cake was nice and soft. Not very thick or clumpy. After a heavy meal , we don’t want something too heavy or sweet. This Mango Cheesecake definitely goes well.

I love the Sashimi , Dragon Roll , Foie Gras Soup and Gyu-don the most. Gonna bring my bf here when he comes back from business trip ! Need to go for the Gyu-don again.

Here are some that i tried.

S’mores Cupcakes ($4)
Digestive biscuit base with chocolate cake, topped with homemade marshmallow topping. The Marshmallow topping was so soft and smooth. I love this cupcake ! Marshmallows definitely goes well with the chocolate cake base.

I love strawberry shortcakes and i am a big fan of strawberry shortcake. My bf took a long time to find strawberry shortcake for my birthday few months ago because he knew i only like and eat that. I have to have it every year for my bday. This is how much i love it.

Strawberry Shortcake ($6.80) –

Made with fluffy white sponge, layered with succulent strawberries & luscious vanilla cream.

Strawberry was fresh and these were baked on the day itself to maintain its freshness. Love the generous serving of strawberries. Bite every corner and you can find strawberries.

Salted Egg Yolk Cupcake ($4.20) –

Inspired by the salted egg yolk bun, this salted egg yolk frosting with custard centre  is the perfect sweet & savory treat.

Imagine eating Liu Sha Bao but the english version. Lol. The salted egg custard was not very salty and not too light. Just nice. Something unique because this is the first time i came across Salted Egg Yolk Cupcake. You know you see alot of Red Velvets , Cookies and Creams , Salted Caramel etc but you don’t really see the salted egg version.

Looks so yummy right ! I am craving for the Wagyu bowl from Kinsa sushi and strawberry shortcake from The Audacious Cakery now by just looking at the pictures i have taken.
