Here was part of the 3 weeks break in Netherlands which i was looking forward to.
We are heading to Paris ! 4 days 4 nights in Paris.
Oppa was in charged of booking the hotels , train tickets and the monies. whereas im in charge of packing luggages and other logistic stuff or more like welfare part. We only booked our hotel/guest house the day before our trip to Paris on Thursday night.
So , we took a train from Rotterdam Central , Netherlands to Paris Nord station on Thursday night. Train ride took 2 hours only.
D managed to book a Korean guest house in Paris for our stay. Yes you are right , many Koreans operate guest houses/ inns in Paris. Everything was communicated via Kakaotalk in Korean so Oppa is the one taking care of it. The location is central and best part is that the metro station is just right infront of the apartment lobby. And the pricing is cheaper than other hotels we looked for. It is more like a B&B ( Bed and Breakfast ). This B&B has total of 6-7 rooms and there are rooms with twin , queen beds or family room. Or you can just rent a bed and share the bunk bed with other guests. We booked the double room with Queen bed. It comes with balcony , fridge , dressing table and Evian water etc.
The guest house is very clean and neat. Very new and feels soo homely. The owner changes your sheets and towels daily and prepare Korean breakfast and deliver it to your room every morning at 8.30am.
The owners are Koreans and they speak Korean , English and French. All of the B&B guests are Koreans. Very nice lady and she picked us up from the metro station to the house. And she taught us where to go , what to do and what to look out for ( pick pockets and some cultural habits in Paris ). This is the part which i really like because you can contact her any time to ask for directions or give her a call. So we felt really comfortable and the place feels so homely yet like a hotel. Very clean.
The kitchen is open for guests to use. Free flow of Korean instant noodles and can help yourself with the side dishes and kimchi in the fridge.
The main area where you can seat and read books or info about Paris or have your meal if you don’t like to have it in your room. Maps and plastic fans are provided in the drawer.
We arrived at 10pm in Paris and ready to tuck into bed after my hot cup of Korean instant noodles with Kimchi.
The next morning , we woke up at 8.30am for our breakfast.
Gosh i love it. Because i haven had rice for a looong time since i arrived in Netherlands. Was soo happy when i tasted Korean food. Finally ASIAN FOOD.
I can’t have pasta, pizza and sandwiches everyday for 3 meals. Getting really sick of them.
After our hearty meal ( which i swear i really want to ask for one more serving but paiseh to do so ) , we changed and ready to head out to explore Paris.
Paris style , they like to just sit back and relax. Lying on the grass field , reading a book , have a wine , food , great company , great weather and everything was so nice. Probably can’t do this in SG even in Botanic Gardens . The grass and soil are too wet and leaving your bottoms dirty. But in Paris , the grass are really clean and you can just lay down and relax.
We were relaxing in this breezy weather and reading our guide book to check where to go next.
We continued our walk and coincidentally discovered Pierre Herme ! I swear this is better than Laduree. Sorry to Laduree fans but after trying from both brands , i prefer Pierre Herme the most. People who have tried Pierre Herme before do agree with me. We only found 3 outlets in Paris and not sure of this outlet because this seems to be the only one serving the Isaphans and the one i went to in Opera only sells chocolates and macaroons.
The Isaphan is sooo damn nice !
I bought this Isaphan ( middle one ) and it is soooo damn niceee ! I wanna have 2 but i bought the last one and some macaroons.
After our dessert , we went for lunch at a French restaurant. We saw many locals streaming in and it was crowded so we decided to go for it. Cant remember the location but opposite is a huge LV boutique. There is no queue for this LV boutique probably because it is not in the central area like Champs Elysees.
No menu in this restaurant. They just sell steaks with salad and fries as sides. That’s all. You cannot choose your fries or salad.
The only question the waitress ask was “how would you like your steak to be done?” and “what drinks would you like to have ?”
Steak is really juicy and nice !
Our lunch costs EUR 62.90. Abit shock at the food prices in France compared to Belgium, Prague and Netherlands. Even when i went shopping , there are price tag indicating the different prices even they are all in Euros. France is about EUR5 more expensive than other countries in European union.
After our awesome lunch , we continued our walk and chanced upon Laduree. Of cos , gotta try the macaroons. The queue was so long.
We left Laduree with a box of 8 macaroons.
We were walking down to Musee Du Louvre when we saw many people wearing fashionably and didn’t realised that it was Paris Fashion Week event at Musee Du Louvre. So we just joined in and i started taking pictures and sitting one corner and looking at how others dressed up . Looking for inspirations.
Here are some pictures i took. It was too crowded with camera flashing here and there. What i like about Paris is that you can walk into any cafes/restaurants or shop fronts to take pictures of your outfit even with an entourage of photographers and no one chases you away. But in SG if you were to do that , you get shooed away
A sea of people at Paris Fashion Week.
We really walked alot and fortunately i was wearing my sneakers. If not my legs gonna hurt. D told me to bring Agneselle’s clothes out to change to take pictures but i don’t want to because i just want to spend time with him and relax and not always looking for nice places to take pictures of the clothes and spend like 2-3 hours doing that. Because i have to search for toilets and change in and out.
We carried my bag of Pierre Herme Isaphan around and decided to eat it Paris style which is lying down on a grass patch , my head on D’s chest and chewing this Isaphan away. Lol.

Here comes the shopping street at Champs Elysees and that is where you see the Arc De Triomphe at the end of the street. So you can put your shopping and picture takings of Arc De Triomphe on the same day.
Huge Louis Vuitton Flagship Store at Champs Elysees.
Queue was very long and we didn’t bother to go in since we are not intending to buy any things.
Cant miss the Effiel Tower in Paris. Love sitting at the field infront of the tower and sweet talking with D .
We took a train back to our B&B at night. We were soo tired but we had a fulfilling first day in Paris.
And we woke up the next morning with my favourite food for breakfast.
Chap Chye and Kimchi Soup !
It was shopping day. We went to Saint Honore where you can find Chanel, Dior, Gucci, Prada, YSL, Givenchy etc etc and other high end brands in one street. I didn’t get anything though. I am more of shopping at an outlet kind of person because it is cheaper ! I got my Prada wallet for EUR 60 at a Prada outlet in Italy 2 years ago. D got his mum a scarf for present from here. It is very near Champs Elysees and you can walk there.
We had our dinner at Cafe George V at Champs Elysees. I had awesome Steak Tartare. So nice i can have one more and the service there is good.
We took the Paris version of “tuk tuk” to Effiel Tower. I pity this guy because D is very big and he needs to pedal real hard.
Evening view of Effiel Tower
There was a festival at the other end of Effiel Tower and we decided to pop by , ordered some food and drinks before we go back.
The hearty breakfast at the next morning gave us enough energy to take 1.5 hours train ride to the outskirts of Paris to see the Versailles Grand Palace.
And a night boat tour around the canals.
Next morning , we woke up super early to Pierre Herme because i was whining to D that i wanna buy Pierre Herme chocolates and macaroons before we go to Monmatre.
Monmatre. A very nice quaint little french town. Love it esp the art pieces.
Had our dinner at a famous French restaurant recommended on Korean Naver blogs which D brought me to. So you can see alot of Koreans and locals there.
We went for the EUR 16.50 set which comes with an appetizer , main , dessert and coffee or tea. Very cheap and nice. We went for the escargots , chicken , lemon tart and pudding.
After that , we rushed back to our B&B for our luggages and to the train station to take a train back to Rotterdam !
I wish i can turn back time and go back to Europe again 😦
Hi, I wonder if you can share the name of the korean guesthouse. Thank you very much.
