Korean Beansprout Soup and Side Dish Recipe

This beansprout soup can be eaten hot or cold (by keeping it in the fridge). But i prefer to eat it warm though.

Good to drink after hangover or rounds of drinks. When hubs have drinking sessions with his Korean friends or dinner with them (cfm have alcohol esp soju), i will prep this soup for him. They drink it when they have hangover and it is supposed to help to clear the hangover.

Superrr easy to cook! 10mins done.

Korean style Beans prouts Soup

Ingredients

-chopped green chilli and red chilli

-chopped scallons

-soy sprouts (not the normal bean sprouts! Must be those big headed ones and stated Soy Sprouts on the package. You must take note when you buy .You can buy from ntuc Sakura brand or seoul butchery or k&j butchery where they sell some Korean fresh produce)

Ingredients for soup base:

-Anchovies

-Kelps

-Korean fish/anchovies sauce

Boil water and throw in 10pcs of large anchovies and 2 big pcs of dried kelps. Boil and simmer to low hit. Once the “fragrance” is out, off fire and throw away the anchovies and kelps. Keep the soup stock.

In the soup stock, add in the large soya sprouts. Put the lid over the pot or pan. Wait for it to boil for 5mins.

Open lid and add in chopped green chilli , chopped scallions and chopped red chilli.

Add a tablespoon of fish sauce and salt. Let it simmer in low heat for another 5 to 8 mins and it is ready to be served!

Korean Bean sprouts side dish

Ingredients:

-soy bean sprouts (same as the one for soup)

-sesame seeds

Seasoning:

-1 table spoon korean fish sauce

-a pinch of salt

– 1 teaspoon korean sesame oil

-1 table spoon korean chilli flakes

So basically you need to boil the soy sprouts and then add all the seasoning stated above into a mixing bowl with the cooked sprouts and mix well! And it is ready to serve or kept in a tupperware for up to at least a week in the fridge.

Very addictive esp eaten when it is cold.

Very easy! 10mins chop chop done!

I love this side dish so much so i learnt from my mil how to make it.

Hubs photography skills improved.
Told him dont make me look chubs in photo and his reply was “if you are i also cannot help you” lol. 要死 😂😂😂

Mister asked me to take photo of him today cos he said he looks good and dressed up. Usually he just wear the same old uniqlo shirt $7.90 one i got for him and the h&m lounge shorts to his chinese class lol. 😍 He is frugal so usually i do the shopping for him . Like if this pants spoil or what i will get him new one.

I like this knitted top. Have been exercising well these days and finally have the confidence to wear crop top hehe. I signed up for Yoga+Meditation classes and started my first class since Mid Jan. I think it helps me to relax alot and i can sleep very well these days.

THe meditation instructor will spray some essential oil or mist on my face and pump some essential oil on my palm and rub on my pulse points. I felt really relax and feels like im in a spa.

So from my friend’s recommendations, i went to Neal’s Yard Remedies boutique at Taka and got this roll on essential oil ($26).

I like the rose facial moisturiser too. Smells so good and moisturising leh.

Never buy the facial moisturiser though cos im still using existing one.

Im so into aromatherpy stuff these days. Those essential oils and scents help me to sleep well these days and i felt relax and more energised.

But they dont come cheap…..

Hello 2019!

Wah just login here and realized that it has been 2 months since my last updates.

Nov and Dec were busy months. Clearing up all outstanding work before end of year and also i had my IUI done in November.

And also i find myself coming back to social media (dayre and wordpress) to express my thoughts these days. Esp when im travelling from one point to another for client appointment.

I always say that i have to share but i really do. Just that i prefer to have 1 full quiet day to sit down, have a coffee and cake to pen down my thoughts properly. But i am not able to find such times last year often except the 2 weeks after my Korea trip lol. Well tomorrow afternoon i have a 5hr break inbetween.Time to find a good place in town to chill and pen my thoughts.

Also , many asked me to share on my iui procedure. Yes .. i have drafted but there are some really personal thoughts which i am hesitating if i should share out openly. And also i really want to thank many of you who shared their iui journey with me too. It makes me feel more assured and also know what to expect and what not to.

Now..just waiting to go for my next iui which will be SO-IUI. Waiting for period to come and start this whole tiring cycle again but i think this upcoming one will be more challenging.

Reviews – Mediheal , Briskin , Neogen

My masks review from Olive Young !

Im back for a month already and started using my new skincare products since i was back.

Starting from the easy one first…because i have issues loading pics of other products on my wordpress through the app. All the pictures are on my phone. I have to add the pics through the app and save and draft before i can blog on computer. Blogging through the app is very mafan.

I bought 5 types of masks these time but all from 2 brands.

Mediheal and Briskin.
I got some of Pearl Light one from Mediheal site because i don’t see it in Olive Young.

Basically i have used the Collagen and Charcoal masks before and i really like it esp the Charcoal one because i find my skin brightens up and moisturised after using it. Very happy cos i got them at good deal during Korea Sale Fiesta for KRW 1,000 each for the collagen and charcoal ones.

Got 1 box each for these 3 – Collagen , Charcoal and Pearl Light

This is the first time i use Pearl Light one and i like it too !
Find my skin more radiant after using it. It is for radiance and firming.

But i find them too perfumed. Will be better if it is not too scented lah. But so long got effect, make my skin swee swee i LIKE !

Next is Briskin ! I got the one in Raspberry pink and Light pink package. Saw celebs using it so i also follow buy lor ! But before i did, i try 2 pieces and i like it alot. Very moisturising and i like how it sticks to my skin so nicely (That’s why it is called 2nd skin). It is very very fragile and thin like membrance so it won’t form “bubbles” when you put on your face.

Raspberry one is for RADIANCE.

Light Pink one is for HYDRATION.

20181020_211639.jpg

Wearing it can be very mafan if you are new to such masks and you can tear it too if you don’t know how to use but there are tricks to use.

The mask is in between 2 gauzes. So you need to peel one gauze first and place on your face..position well and then you peel the 2nd outer gauze. Now adjusting the mask is very mafan because if you are not careful and pull too hard , it will tear. So the trick is to use your finger tips to “PUSH” the mask up , down , left or right. Do NOT Pull !

Briskin is pricey but i like it ! I got it on sale so quite okay.
I also got peel pads from NEOGEN. Very heng…i saw them selling KRW 14,000 during sales and i immediately get liao. Because they are KRW 22,000 before discount.

I use 2 pads twice a week. Because they are quite mild , i exfoliate twice a week. Those abit stronger exfoliator i will use once a week. My favourite is the WINE one (purple).

I alternate between the Wine and Green Tea one each time.

It comes in glove like pads where you can put 3 fingers in and use it to exfoliate your face in circular motions. After using it for a month , i find my skin more smooth after using them and also more clear. Can notice the difference especially after exfoliating and cleansing. Make up application is also more smooth.

I wanted to get the Nightingale one but after much thoughts , i decided to go for NEOGEN.

If you were to ask me ,

Busan Day 6 – Self Time

Some time to myself…

Every trip to Korea, i will go out for day by myself…alone..doing my own shopping, coffee and cakes, nuaing at cafe (watching dramas) or working in cafes..

So i recreated this Konglish word (English+Korean) called “Self-Time”. Now my MIL and hubs know what i meant if i mentioned “self time”. We only go back for 2 weeks once or twice a year. So every trip is a busy trip. From settling hub’s insurances premiums, banking stuff ( i don’t understand why every year he has to go to the bank to settle his bank card…now i know why liao..he never KEEP his card properly EVERYTIME he go back..either lost or what lah..even his ID also..so EVERY YEAR we have to remake it ) -_-

Everyday i will wake up at 8am , have breakfast…then MIL will cook lunch and we had lunch again lol 2 hours after our breakfast. Then we will run our errands together till night. Because hubs will meet his friends at night and i will go along also. So i don’t really have time on my own.

So my self time is always at Seomyeon. Somewhere im familiar with and near home.

Hubs will also meet me there afterwards for dinner.

Busan main shopping area is at Seomyeon and Nampodong. I prefer Seomyeon because it is more cozy and easy to go from one shop to another. Nampodong shops are all flagships size..so if i miss one thing and want to go back , i have to go back a long way.

My first stop is at Lotte Department store in Seomyeon main branch.

At there , i will have my favourite MOON TOAST !

So yummmss! I must have it every time im there. Have my toast, a sip of coffee and watch the crowd.

At Level 7 , there are my favourite accessories and clothings store.

Acc:scent is one of my favourite accessories shop for earrings. Because they are so pretty and cheap ! $7 per pair and so chioooo ! Acc:scent can be found in most Lotte Dept Store or their standalone boutique.

Then i still go to Vely Vely to look at the their cosmetics. Their clothing selections at Lotte Dept Seomyeon is very small. So i will go to the Lotte Town Outlet or GwangBok Lotte Dept Store (Nampodong) or Shinsaegae Centum City (near Haeundae) to look at their clothings selection because they are very very big.

Imvely is one of my favourite Korean brands. They ship overseas too but i find their clothings too exp. And the price def if USD and KRW is so diff. So it is much more worth it and cheaper through the Korean site and deliver to Korea.

I love their clothes..it is very much of my style !! The colours especially ! I follow them on instagram too.

20180927_182242.jpg

Below pic was taken at the branch at Lotte Dept Store at Lotte Premium Outlets (Dong Busan). Got a pink long sleeve from there ! Will review on Vely Vely costmetics soon !

Imvely is the brand for clothing and Vely Vely is their cosmetic brand name.

7th floor is my favourite because there are alot of my favourite Korean online shop brands’ brick and mortar stores . My favourites are TWEE , ROMI STORY , NANING9 , IMVELY. They are the more popular ones. But if you want to go to the bigger stores , it will be at GwangBok Lotte Dept Store (Nampodong) or Shinsaegae Centum City (near Haeundae). Nampodong is a must go place in Busan because Jagalchi Fish Market , Gamcheon Cultural Village , Bookstore alley and Bupyeong Market/Kkang Tong Market are just parallel to each other. So alighting at Nampo station , Jagalchi station , Gwangbok station makes no difference because these tourist attractions places are just parallel to each other. Just like our Orchard to Somerset and Dhoby gaut. If you want to start from the head to the tail , i will suggest to alight at Gwangbok Station. You can shop at the Lotte first , then continue down the Nampodong street to shop for your sports wear , cosmetics at Etude, Innisfree etc , Olive Young , Lalavla, Lohbs , Arituam and other flagship stores.

Another of my favourite brand is Sappun !
I LOVE THEIR HEELS !

Super comfy and lasting okay…i wore it for a year plus already and still solid and never spoil. So COMFY ! Their shop is really crazy..alot of pple and sometimes have to queue to get in. GO early in the morning and be the first few to be there. Else by evening , most sizes are gone. Common sizes like 240,245,250 very fast out of stock !

You can buy from gmarket. They do ship to SG.

After my shopping at the 7th floor , i will go to 6th floor…my usual floral cafe to have a cup of coffee and tea while i watch my shows before continuing my shopping further down at the Seomyeon Underground Shopping Mall.
Will blog about the underground shopping mall separately.

I actually did a Instagram LIVE video when i was there. But i realized i cannot add into archive or highlights of instagram leh. Why ah !

20180927_171146.jpg

Start of Seomyeon underground shopping mall. Very long stretch starts from Lotte Dept Store exit. Come out from the mrt gantry you can already see liao.

20180930_130121.jpg

Street Level Shopping !
Definitely must go to Olive Young to get my mask, skin care and cosmetics !

Korean cosmetics are good and works for me. Plus they are cheap! I usually stock up for a year since i go back once a year. And 1 yr stock up cost me about $600 to $800 max including masks and sleeping packs depending on the brands i buy. I changed SGD $1000 each trip and all go to skincare, make up and toiletries like toothpastes and pans for cooking.

Besides Olive Young, http://www.oliveyoung.co.kr/store/main/main.do , you can also go to Lalavla and LOHBS. LOHBS is under Lotte brand. Lalavla is quite new. But i don’t really go there though. At most i go to LOHBS but i go to Olive Young more because of the wide selections and im a member so can get discounts and rebates.

I feel that OLIVE YOUNG updates and carries the MOST IN and NEWEST items. I follow the on instag. So whenever there are new brands, new make up/skincare/masks in the market , i will be updated also. Or if there are any upcoming sales.

After my “SELF TIME” ended at 7pm, i met hubs and his friends for dinner at Haeundae. Some local place and setting is much more ermm “local” lah.

Really whack all my BBQ here ! So shiok !

Busan Day 4

Day 5 & 6 in Busan! Almost a week gone so fast.

On Day 5, went to Hanssem with Mil and hubs to choose sofa for Mil’s new house. The new apartment will be near Sajik Baseball stadium and it is at Dongnae-gu

Before going to Hanssem in Haeundae to choose furnitures , we went to have Mil-myeon. It is Busan’s signature dish. It is made up of “mee sua” kind of noodles served on cold noodles style with spicy sauce. You need to add abit of vinegar and mustard and the cold soup base will taste very good.

Different cities and provinces in Korea have their unique and representative dishes. Like in Jeonji, it is their bibimbap. So in Busan, one of those are Mil-myeon (a kind of noodles) , Dwejigukbap (Pork stew rice), Or-mul (fish cakes).

The queue at original and most famous shop was 2hrs long which we decide to go other day.

So we went to another popular Mil-myeon restaurant frequented by father-in-law when he was still alive 16yrs ago. Very hard to find seats also.

Noodles were all handmade on the spot after you ordered (below).

This is soooooo yummy! 1 bowl is not enough and i was craving for moreeeee.

After lunch, we went to Hanssem in Haeundae. Hanssem is like their version of Ikea but better grade of furnitures.

After viewing and choosing furnitures, MIL dropped us off at Seomyeon while she went to have dinner with friends.

Seomyeon is my favourite place in Busan. If you have watched my LIVE videos on instagram, you probably went for an instagram tour of Seomyeon.

You can have food and shopping all together. It is the central of Busan. For friends who are looking for accoms in Busan, i always recommend hotels in Seomyeon because go anywhere is convenient and you can eat 24/7 and shop also. Shops like Olive young , Innisfree etc close at 11pm or 12midnight.

Olive Young is my favourite place to buy all my skincare..

Of cos now there are new ones like Lalavla and Lohbs but Olive Young is my favourite. Will blog on these places later when i review my beauty buys.

Happening streets of Seomyeon.

All thanks to Hwasa from ” I live Alone” variety show, i was soo addicted to eating intestines. She eat until so shiok lor !

See this youtube you know liao.

It makes me crave for intestines bbq. Of cos much better than the one i had at Running Man restaurant in Tg Pagar. With just sgd 35 (₩32,000) , i can have bbq intestines + fried rice + beer + free flow side dishes. But i need spend 4 times the amount in bbq restaurants in SG. So i was binging in it in Korea until indigestion lol.

We went to hub’s friend – Ji-woo oppa’s restaurant in Seomyeon ( 남자곱창 – Namja Gobchang restaurant ). 2nd floor serves pig intestines whereas the 1st floor serves cow intestines. His biz must be doing well. He even opened a Po-cha (Korean traditional bar where you have stews and alcohol) and other f&b biz.

Beer with Hubs in Korea. What a mood to drink beer.

I don’t drink because i dont really like and i cannot drink. But eating those oily intestine bbqs made me want to have a cold beer to 去油!

So shiok right..肥死!

After the meal, i went to Olive Young to get my skincare and also did a Live video on instastory and went to Seomyeon underground shopping. The stretch is very long and brings you on end of Seomyeon to the other and alot of fashion shops, skincare, sports shoes shops etc and also bring you to Lotte Department Store !

Alot of Olive Young in Seomyeon. Every few mins of walking you will see one. So dont worry. Better to do shopping in Seomyeon. Will explain in other posts why. And bring out your passport too! You can get immediate tax refunds.
