#SGAHJUMMA

Everytime whenever i MIA-ed for a while on my blog , friends will ask me anything happened or busy making babies ah ?
LOL.

Nah…. we are “out” this cycle so have to try again lor.

Next cycle , i will try to take it easy…to be honest , people who are trying to conceive or had conceived will know the most stressful and fustrating part is not waiting for ovulation…but the 2 weeks after ovulation date. Because before ovulation , you are doing something in hope of a positive outcome…but after ovulation date, there is a 2 weeks wait (Luteal phase) which is the 2 weeks before your period come. During these 2 weeks , you can only wait and do nothing. Doing nothing and hoping your period don’t come and you still start doing crazy symptoms spotting. To be honest , i thought we could have made it this month because i had no PMS symptoms. I always have breast soreness , pre-menses cramps and migrane 10 days before my period and it will end when period starts. But this time , there was nothing…then who knows the day after i came back from Bintan on 7th July …period come liao.

FEELING SIAN

Both of us were disappointed. Super disappointed.

I was feeling very stressed and i broke down for a mere 5 minutes. Feeling cranky then suddenly menses came. This time , i tried not to be too stress about everything around me..my work ..people…housework etc. Some friends asked if i had medical checks done. Well , everything checked. All fine and healthy. No abnormalities. Gynae says ovaries, uterus , eggs and everything looks healthy and nice. I think i am abit kiasu..cos i did checks even before we started trying. we are only in our 3rd or 4th cycle try. Usually people only go for checks after 1 year. But because of our age (im 31 and he is 33) , i decided to go for medical check first.

After i blogged about the previous post (chemical pregnancy), i received many emails and instagram messages from readers who also experienced the same thing , experiencing the same thing or also at the same stage as me ( trying to conceive ). It is comforting to know that i am not facing these challenges alone and for people who are going through the same thing to give me encouragements and sugggestions. So i want to say THANK YOU for all your kindness and encouragements. It is very sweet of all of you. And i am also blessed to have understanding clients who gave me encouragements and positivity not only at about trying to conceive but also towards my work. Because i do alot of family planning (husband and wives + their kids + their extended family ), the women are all married. So some are going through the same thing or have went through before. It is nice to have people to talk to over a coffee and they are able to relate to your situation.

BTW, i just unlocked my instag to public lol. I privated the instag for 2 years already and don’t really accept new followers. I am slightly more active there now.

#K-beauty

Not sure if you all heard of the Korean skincare method called 7-SKIN.

I bet you have heard about triple cleansing (Make up remover -> Oil cleanser -> Foam cleanser ). This 3 steps already took up about 5-10 mins of my bath time. So now…is 7-Skin.

I received alot of enquiries on that for the past few months but i kept forgetting to blog about this lol. I heard of it last year in October when i was in Korea for my wedding. The Korean makeup artist told me about it. So i started trying it since then.

So what is 7-Skin ?

“Skin” is Korea’s name for toners.

7-skin means layering 7 layers of toners before you continue with the other steps. By layering with 7 layers of toners , it is supposed to boost and optimized the hydration level in your skin. Your skin will “drink up” and “absorb” the toners more effectively. It will give you a glowy and hydrated skin look.

So how do you do it ?
Well , after cleansing your face , you apply the first layer of toner. Then wait for 3-5 minutes for it to be absorbed before you apply another layer and you repeat this 7 times !

Then after which , you can continue with your usual routine of applying essence , serums , emulsions and moisturizer.

To be honest , having 7 toners is very expensive and applying 7 layers is really time consuming. It took me about almost an hour to finish the whole skincare routine from toner to moisturizer when i tried this 7-skin method.

So i reduced to 3-Skin instead. I find 3 Skin still acceptable and less time consuming. The effect also there.
So what products did i apply ?

Because i am applying 3 layers , i chose and start with the more “watery” texture toners first.
I bought this Hatomugi Skin Conditioner from Taipei. The texture is quite watery and not very thick. It absorbs very easily so i used it as the first layer. This toner is supposed to help with hydration.

2nd layer is the Rene-cell peptide toner . It supposed to help with firming of skin. This texture is watery and easily absorbed.

I reviewed this HERE before.

3rd layer is slightly less “watery” in texture compared to the first 2 layers. The Aquabolic toner from HERA.
Long time readers of mine knows that i am a BIG BIG FAN of HERA. Their products never failed me.

Their BB Cushion also the BEST !

Yup , so this is my 3 SKIN method. I reduced from 7 to 3 because 7 is toooo time consuming and i don’t see myself buying 7 toners. I rather use good toners. Some people asked if you can repeat the toners ? As in just 1 toner but apply 7 times ? This also can work and it is just whether you have the patience or not.

So very easy , just start with the most light weighted toner first and the more heavy one last.

I do this 3-skin step everyday ! Perhaps you can try it too.

I noticed my skin looks more translucent and radiant lately. I actually changed my entire skincare products because the previous sets finished already and so i got new ones in October. Got new toners (Mamonde) , serums (Nature Republic and CNP) , ampoules ( CNP ) , emulsions (Mamonde) , moisturisers (Nature Republic and Real Barrier) and essences (Hanskin).

Here are some of the few i just got recently and started using. The rest are still nicely kept in my stock up corner lol,

Hanskin Hyaluron Skin Essence.

Price : KRW 30,000 (but i got it at 50%off for KRW 15,000 during Watsons storewide sales).

Texture : Feels abit like liquid serum. Not very watery and easy to glide and absorbed into the skin.

This feels really good and easy to apply. I really like this because of the texture and how easy it is to glide onto the skin.  It is very moisturising and smells good too. After applying it and absorption , i can see that my skin looks more hydrated and radiant.

It is very hard to find Hanskin stuff. I got this at Watsons though.

Nature Republic Shea Butter Steam Cream

Price : KRW 30,000 (  But i bought it during Korea Sale Fiesta at 50% off KRW 15,000 )

Texture : Feels like the soya bean pudding ( ya , i know right , what a description ! ). This is actually a popular product because of the moisturizing effect. It comes in 3 different types : Fresh , Moist and Ultra. I got the Moist one.

It promises 48hrs of hydration.  I use this as a night cream/sleeping pack because it is very moisturising. Will be too moisturising to be used a moisturiser. It really hydrates my skin overnight when i sleep in air conditioned room. I really love this. It also hydrates my skin when i was in Korea during autumn.

I think this bottom can be used very long. Because of our humid weather , i do not need to apply that much.

I bought this as wedding favours for my Korean wedding too.

dsc03644a

After 2 weeks of use , still got so much left. If you are looking for something hydrating and affordable , this is one product you should get.

dsc03645a

CNP Invisible Peeling Cleansing Gel.

Price : KRW 18,000 ( Got it at a discount during Korea Sale Fiesta too ! )

Texture : Watery Gel like and easy to foam up. I like the smell of the foam. Smells like those aesthetic clinic used cleansers. It is not very drying also. It promises to remove dead skin cells also. My skin looks brighter and clearer these days. So not sure if this is the product or the one below and all above that is contributing to it.

dsc03616a

Nature Republic Ginseng Royal Silk Watery Cream

Price : KRW 66,000

Somehow i feel that this maybe the one ? I use this as night cream because it is quite oily and rich despite being a “watery cream”. It is very hydrating and i like the smell. Feels very luxurious also. But ..the bottle is very big and chunky. Super mafan to open the cap. I apply abit only because it is abit oily. I would recommend this as a day moisturiser. Because

dsc03612a

Transparent gel like “watery cream” with gold flakes.

dsc03613a dsc03614a

I apply this on alternate days and find improvement in my skin tone.

I bought the serum too. Review later !

Nature Republic Aloe Vera Cooling Eye Serum

Price : KRW 10,900

Not much of a cooling effect as it stated but quite moisturising.

Texture : Abit sticky.

Ehh.. this one not really a MUST BUY product. Unless you are looking for eye gel at the moment , this can be one of your choices.

dsc03646a dsc03647a

I use that to gently massage my eyebags . I usually keep all the emptied tubes and just use the rollers to massage my eyebags.

That’s all for today ! Lots more to review after i opened and used them for a week !

This is one questions which many people has been asking me since beginning of the year.

Am i still continuing AE and any launches ?

I am going to take a break from AE at the moment. It is still running. There are part-timers handling the orders twice a week so no worries that nobody is processing your orders (twice a week).

So now , im doing a big clearance sale. Just added new items into the store and there will be 2-3 more to be added in.
All items are priced $5 – $10.  If you wonder im bringing those $5 quality clothes to sell ? Nope …it is the usual fabric that we have been using and just that now is a big clearance sale.

I have discussed with Oppa and also myself whether i should announce to my readers/customers about what am i going to do with Agneselle.com and i think i should since many of them have been supporting me since i started it at 19/20 years old. Gosh can you believe it ?? when i was 20 years old ?? and i am 30 now ??? It is my baby and i would say i spent my youth in it. All started from loving shopping and love selling things.

Anyway will go into that further when i talk about #smartlady.

Shop your heart out now at http://www.agneselle.com .

$50 for 10 pieces ? Yes you can now shop at http://www.agneselle.com 🙂

Night night !

Busan : My Wedding in Korea

Well , in 6 months’ time. I will be known as Mrs Shin and “Hyung-su-nim” or “Ahjumma” in Korea.

“Hyung-su-nim” is like chinese equivalent of “da sao”. His friends who are younger than me ( irregardless if they are older than me) will call me that. And for married woman , must call Ahjumma liao. It is our local equivalent of “auntie”.   Lol.

Hmm abit not used to it because his bro used to call me by name but now he called me “Hyung-su-nim”. I used to be served last at the table because i am the youngest but now i am served right after my hubby-to-be before anyone else who is younger than him. This is part of the table manners.

Hmm abit not used to it because everyone is very polite to me and being treated with respect. But this happens when im with people who are younger than him. Whereas if im with his hyungs ( older brother ) , they will call me “jae su ssi” which means younger brother’s wife and i will call them oppa. Hehe and they still dote on me.

Many people asked me “so what is life going to be like marrying a Korean ?”

1) Housework and Cooking – Alot or should i say ALL Singaporeans i know asked me ” So does he expects you to cook and do house work ? “.

To be honest , yes he did. But i told him i will do over the weekend. Because i am working and my appointments end at 9pm sometimes. Housework is easy for me because i do my own housework at home but for cooking , i am still learning to cook chinese food. I find it easier to cook Korean dishes than local dishes. So most of the time i will cook Korean food at home. Not all but i know about 10 dishes only. So why does he expect me to learn how to cook and do housework ? Because in Korea , it is not common to have maids like we do in Singapore. Most women became stay home mum after having babies and the man will be the one bringing the bread home. Women look after their children and the house. The man will be the one outside working. I guess that is one of the reason why family bondings are very strong in Korea. But in Singapore , i don’t think it is possible for one person to work only because our standard of living is very high. Whereas in Korea, education and health care are very cheap due to government subsidies. IV drips cost only $3 so you can imagine how cheap.

2) Will you move to Korea ? – No , our aim is to bring up our children here so they can learn 3 languages – English , Chinese and Korean. So that will be at least 25 years. To be honest if i were to retire , i will retire in Korea. If i have the $ , i will dream to buy a house at a countryside to enjoy the nature and retire peacefully. Being a financial planner , i plan up retirement planning for my clients and figures needed can be quite shocking if you want to retire at a comfortable and simple pace. So yup , at last the next 25-30 years here and then retire in Korea.

3) Korean husbands are MCP – Hmm..sometimes but i find it more like they think it is their responsibility to look after their family and wife. So it makes them look like they want to have alot of control. I am actually quite touched to know that my hubby felt that it is his responsibility to provide for his future family and to work hard so that he can earn enough for me to stop working.

4) Fierce mother-in-law – Maybe it is the way drama portrays Korean mil . But not all are like that. My friends’ mil are very nice to her even though she is a Singaporean. My mil is also very kind and nice. She had 2 sons and always wanted a daughter. So she treats me really well and she is quite open and not conservative. If she is very conservative , i don’t she will even approve this marriage.

If you have a Korean bf/fiance , always remember to have a good relationship with his mother.

Here’s about it…anything else you want to ask or know ? Let me see if i can help to answer that.

Some dos and don’ts here :

Do not act like a spoilt brat. Don’t expect to ORDER your bf/fiance to serve you this and that. Learn to wash your own dishes/cups after use because most household do not have maids or helpers.

Do not SMOKE infront of them. Girls smoking is still a taboo in Korea. That’s why when you go out to the streets , you will see some people hiding along the dark alleys to smoke. Ya , the girls have to “hide” to smoke. Not common to see girls smoking opening on the streets like what you see in SG.

Do not wear too revealing clothes that shows off your shoulders/cleavages or skirts that are sooo short . They are pretty conservative. Wear tights if you are wearing short skirts. I wore tube tops when i went holidaying in Korea back in 2012 and it attracted alot of stares from locals.

Learn to address her properly and always remember to serve her food or “kiap” food for her.

Hook your arms around hers when you walk around or go shopping with her. Girls there lock their arms together if they are very close friends. And you can go to jimjibang with her. Now i know why some girls there have really smooth skin. I ever met a 75 year old grandma and her skin ( hands and legs ) are sooo smooth..they are even smoother than mine !

Learn to aegyo abit. And if she wants to buy you something , let her buy. If you feel paiseh and want to reject , just reject once and if she insisted , just let her buy. After that say thank you in Korean and aegyo abit. They will be very happy that you like her gifts.

Whip up some dishes for HER SON. At least Korean dishes so that she knows are you are trying and learning despite being a foreigner.

Most importantly , LEARN KOREAN and the CULTURE. Bo bian , this one really have to .Not just learn basic table manners sentences but really LEARN to speak and understand. No need to be too fluent. They will find it cute and they can understand you. To be honest , my written , reading and listening is good and much better than my speaking because no one speaks to me here. Now my hub to be is learning Chinese and English , so i speak Chinese and English to him. Nobody converse with me in Korean over here leh. His Busan accent is very strong sometimes i also cannot catch what he says. Haha but when i watched Korean drama or variety shows, i can understand.

As for the culture , ask your bf/fiance to explain to you. Try to visit during their new year or thanks giving. That is when you really can get to experience their traditional cultures , food and meet his relatives.

When his mother is busy doing housework or cooking, try to ask and offer your help. Don’t sit there and do nothing. I think this is quite basic common sense because even in SG , if your SG mother in law is busy , you will also offer your help instead of sitting there and do nothing or watch tv right ? Unless she insist that you do not need to help , then you can do your own things guilt free. I think this is basic manners when you go people house EVERYWHERE YOU GO no matter whether is it Korea , Singapore or anywhere else.

Try not to drink until drunk. Heng i don’t drink and i cannot drink. Does not give a good impression.

Here are somethings and tips i can think of. If i can think of anymore then i will add on next time.

Wedding prep 101 –

Face care is very important. Damn scared got one ugly zit or whataever.

Wah now i put on masks almost twice a day on weekends (Mask sheets and a overnight cream mask) and everynight on weekdays.

Need to find time for new hair colour.

Going with my bro and his fiancee to Busan together this trip. Helped  them to arrange their photoshoots there and booked their hotel stay. You can actually check in any time at a nice motel or this hotel. Not expensive. I booked for them 3 days 2 night for KRW 132,000 which works about $150 for 3 days 2 night ( double room ) with breakfast provided.

They have a few branches. The one i booked for them is at Seo-myeon right opposite a shopping mall and the shopping street. If not you can book the one at Haeundae or the one next to Busan Station.

Drafting half way on the “Smart Lady” post…maybe will publish the post tomorrow.

Hehe here’s a new drama that i am addicted to currently.

Rain is soooooooo hot (GOSH! Fangirl blushing here).

The drama plot is very well done and very funny.
You should start watching this because this is a new Korean drama hit. Now on its 5th episode 🙂

Please-Come-Back-Mister-05

Yay…i can’t wait for my trip to Korea in end April. There are quite a number of people asking where and how i get it arranged. Well , i think it is better for me to blog about my experiences and the process after i have done the shoot. So i can share my experiences and thing to take note of for those who are shooting their wedd photos in Korea.

Oppa is going back in March first and i have so many skin care to stock up. Haha i think he will “faint” if he saw my stock up list. I am switching some products to Sulwhasoo. Not that Hera is not good. But im starting on anti-aging products and i will prefer Sulwhasoo.

I realized i haven’t been blogging here much. Lately , i was busy running around SG to meet my clients and prospects.

Receiving this kind of messages made my day. This is from one of my youngest clients. And all my clients will message me “Thank you for your help” .

Msg

Some of my friends always teased me saying that i am “motherly” or “housewife-ish” cos i cook , clean the house etc. But i guess this motherly nature of mine was well appreciated by my clients and prospects.

Im glad to be in this line. Something i like to do because i love meeting people and getting to know more people. And also i learn to be more appreciate and cherish the people around me and i should help more people. Throughout my course in this line , i have met different families , situations and people. That is also something i want to blog about. Because i just went to the hospital last week to visit someone young ( Age 15 ) who was on life support before she passed on. I will blog about this separately and it will be part of the “Smart Lady” posts where i will talk about financial planning.

Good news !
Hoodadak is opening soon on Monday 14th March at Galaxis @ One North. It is just above One North MRT.

Menu includes Korean dishes , chicken and beer. The chef and bosses are Korean. And the chef was working previously at Chicken Up and other restaurants in Korea. Come here for Korean food with some in Korean homemade sauces.

Here are 2 dishes i had for food tasting.

2 dishes which you have to try are the fried chicken in different Korean sauces and also the Andong JjimDdak .

Andong is a town in Korea and they are famous for Jjimddak (Chicken stew). There is the spicy and non-spicy version. But here in Hoodadak they are serving the spicy version.

Come support the Oppas in their new opening. This is a place where i will “park” myself to do work and also help out abit after my work or when im free. The Oppas are always looking for home cooked taste Korean food in SG and now they will all come to Hoodadak. Come come and you may see there often especially during dinner time. Say hi if we see each other there !

Paiseh , my blog abit boring these days. Quite busy with work , wedding preparation and taking care of my health.

Alot of things to research and look for my wedding prep because once i arrive in Korea in April , i will do my wedding shoots , hair dye and perms etc etc all together lol. Some readers have emailed me to ask how and where and what i do for my wedding prep. But because i have not seen the real thing in Korea yet , i can’t review or advice much yet. Wait till end of April okay ? haha my bro is coming to Korea with me too. I helped him to arrange his pre wedding shoots there.

Oh there is a cheongsam tailor shop i want to recommend. If you are keen in making your own cheongsam for your wedding. Im going for fitting next tuesday. Will take a picture and blog here !

Look out for the following posts in March

Smart Lady post on financial planning and health planning (for ladies!)

Shopping in Korean sites

Wedding preparation in Korea

Cheongsam making in SG

Korean food and recipe

Korean make up and skin care ( new ones which i bought ! )

Well , we are about 10 months away from wedding in Sept. But we have not confirmed the date and venue yet because it is difficult to arrange for everything in Korea since we both are based in SG.

Many people asked me “where is the ring” when they meet me. Or some will ask “how many carats” ? “buy from where ?”

But when i told them “no ring”.

Most gave a shocked reaction like “Why ?” or “No ring and you agreed to go ahead ??” or “Then what did he give instead ?”

And i cannot remember how many times have i explained and only the good and true friends get the more “elaborated explanation”. And im starting to feel abit tired answering to these questions.

People who know me well will know what have i went through few years ago. And that was partly the reason why i don’t see a diamond ring as that important. Infact i told my bf that i don’t need any ring. Save the money up instead for our future together. Let’s do a saving plan for our future.

That was why now im just planning a simple wedding affair. Most importantly is that we have to live happily and be contented. Diamond ring or not doesn’t matter.

Don’t know why but i felt very grown up these days or should i say more practical ?

I used to go shopping buy clothes , shoes or even make up once every 3 months but lately i hardly even shop or buy anything. Buy only when it is spoilt. Perhaps it is a occupational hazard. And also it doesn’t sound right if i don’t do what i preach right ?

Time flies and it is year end soon. So much more to accomplish and so much more things to prepare and learn. Guess i can only start preparing for my Korean wedding when i go over in Spring next year. Photoshoots , wedding venue etc etc. Already missing my friends , food and everything there ! Cant wait !
