On thurs , i pop-by The Professionails at Midpoint Orchard to have my nails done. My heels were badly cracked and so dry. So i went for both Classic Pedicure and Classic Manicure with nailart. Opted for something black. Grids and checks are kinda IN right now so i decided to add grids in the design and a french manicure (black and pink) on the last pinkie with a simple swarovski crystal. This design i suits both short and long nails. For those with short nails , it somehow doesn’t make your nails look short and for the last pinkie , i had the black french tip done from the middle of the nail so that it makes it as if my finger nails are long.

I realised that the crystal was very shiny and bling bling-like when Xiufang , the manicurist stuck the first 3 crystals on my nails .The owner of The Professionails told me that it was swarovski crystals which was why it was so shiny.

Love it !

Nail arts with crystals usually cost quite abit. But my readers can get to enjoy a special rate at The Professionails.

I was kinda busy for the last 2 weeks. Fell sick and have to endure for a style shoot.

My first style shoot.

Thanks for the ladies at Bloomsbury bakers for the pastries , Aulapinblanc ( for the vintage decors ) , Nic Law from The Finishing Touch for the photography and Yoona onni for the make up and hair. Eric, the head photographer at The Finishing Touch joined in later. I dont have any art sense and glad to have them around to adjust the decors and everything. Yes , photographer is a guy and im moving out of my comfort zone to do photoshoots with male photographers. He is very professional and it makes me feel comfortable.

Here are some pics i managed to capture while they are arranging the props and cakes.

And thanks for the boss behind Aulapinblanc , managed to “blend” in my oriental ang baos with his vintage props imported from France. He is French-Chinese and the lady boss is a Singaporean who speaks really fluent French too.

Receive an Agneselle Ang Bao Set with any purchase from 13th Jan to 15th Feb at http://www.agneselle.com ! While stock last.

I fell sick and tired lately.  Being sick and tired makes my skin looks tired and dry too.
So the next day , i went to Aeon Medical and Aesthetics clinic to have my facial and laser done. I went for the Aeon Winter glow treatment where i had both laser toning and diamond lifting done to brighten and lift my skin and a full facial (including foam mask). Now my skin looks so bling bling and radiant !!! I LOVE IT !

I told Dr Kim about my skin concerns. Lately i realised the sides of my nose were badly clogged and i started having black heads and want to remove it badly. Instead of painful extraction , a gentle method was used at Aeon which removes the black heads effectively.

Here is a picture of my black heads before the treatment.

The sides of my nose was soaked with a solution/liquid.

A device was later used to gently “scrape” the affected areas. It is not rough scraping and there is no pain.

After that , a pack was placed on my nose before washing off.

Here is the picture of the sides of my nose after removing the black heads. The black heads were cleared off and pores are tightened. You can see the major difference between the before and after photos.

The Winter Glow promotion is still on going and you can call for appointment. CNY is nearing and do call in early to book your appointment before their slots are full.

You can mention my name “Pei Ling” when you head down to the clinic. Staffs at Aeon are all Koreans but they speak English and Korean so don’t be alarmed if you were greeted in Korean. You can look for Clara (Clinic coordinator) or Jina (Clinic Manager).

This week was medical check up , grooming and skin pampering week !

Every year , i will go for full body medical check up and also cervical scanning and pap smear at my gynae. My health was badly affected when i was 22 years old  to 26 years old because i overworked and was very exhausted (both mentally and phyiscally). It took me a year to get back my health. I slowed down my pace in everything and just want to be in a happy relationship. Money can’t buy back your healthy and life.

During my latest check up , the funny thing was that i gained abit of weight that the nurse asked me if i was pregnant and  passed me the bottle to collect my urine sample.  The weight gain was almost 9kg since the last time i visited the clinic. Speaking of that , i am aiming to lose like 3kg within 3 months to 48kg. LOL.

Had my nails done again at The Professionails.

Not really into fanciful designs and i prefer subtle ones. I don’t really go for stuff that are very “loud”

So i had nude colour french tips done and crystals + pearls.

Probably will try something a little more fanciful next time.

How to resist having nude colour french tips after seeing these nude colour swatches !

Also , i had classic gel pedicure done in Apple red colour.

Cant wait for my nails to grow longer.

It was a great time having my nails done there. Talked to the staff about beaches in Malaysian ( they are Malaysians ) and they taught me how to go these and that beach.

The seats were full the last 2 times i went over. So be sure to make your appointment early if you want to have beautiful nails for Valentine’s day and CNY !  The prices are reasonable compared to other places i have been to.

Quote my name “Pei Ling” when you make appointment and visit the nail salon so that you can get to enjoy a free French tip with Classic Gel Manicure service at $40 only !

Or you can quote my name to enjoy 10% discount off all other services !

Btw , You can get to see accessories on Agneselle.com soon 🙂

Happy New Year !

Wishing all of you a great and blissful year ahead. Hope 2015 will be better for me too 🙂

Well , its K-beauty time again. This time is about Cleansing.

There are several types of cleansers – Foam , mousse , gel , oil and milk.
Each catered to different skin types.

These are the ones that i am using. Im actually using the Cleansing Foam but it didnt arrive on time so im currently using the Mousse (sample bottle).

I go through a triple cleansing step ( if i have make up on ) or a double cleansing step ( no make up ). Im not a dermatologist or an expert but these are my personal opinions and steps which i have been using for very long time.

Before the real cleansing starts , i will remove my make up thoroughly using a gentle make up remover.

I hate those that needs a cotton pad and you need to tug here and there. Im currently using Nature Republic’s Magic Remover. Instead of using cotton pads , i will squeeze some onto my finger tips and massage around my eyes and entire face gently with my finger tips for about 2 mins and rinse it off. The make up came off quite fast and gently. This helps to remove the “first base” of make up.

2nd step , i remove the “2nd base” make up with cleansing oil. If you think that using a make up remover is enough , you are wrong esp if you are someone who uses waterproof make up. The cleansing oil helps to remove and melt away your foundations, blushers etc. Im using Innisfree Jelly oil and the Hera Cleansing Oil. I uses the Hera Cleansing Oil after my photoshoots because of the thick make up . On normal days where i put on only simple make up , i uses the Innisfree one. I massage the oil around my face for a good 2 minutes. Slowly i can see the oil turns “white or cream” which means my foundation is coming off. And then i rinse it off with water and pat my face dry with a facial sponge.

Next step  is the REAL cleansing step. I prefer using foam actually because it makes me face feels clean. But i ran out of the Hera Cleansing Foam so im using the mousse ( sample bottle ) for the time-being. I use the foam/mousse in the day time. I use a foam maker to foam the cleanser before rubbing it around my face gently with a facial konjac sponge or facial mitten. The foam actually made the skin brighter.

I use HERA White Program as my night cleansing foam because it comes with tiny beads. It mildly exfoliates my skin and remove all the impurities.

I massage the cleansers gently for a good 3 minutes before i rinse it off. Just because it contains beads does not mean you have to scrub your face very hard. You are cleaning our face, not the toilet floor. So BE GENTLE !

After that i will rinse it off with water and pat my face dry with a towel or facial sponge.

So , my cleansing regime is a triple cleansing step 2-2-3 minutes. Total 7 minutes.

After cleansing , we put on all our lotions etc.

When i first started my skincare routine , it was only the 3 steps – Cleansing , Toner , Moisturizing step. Very easy and just 5 minutes. But now i took about 15 minutes and apply more than 6 products in the day and up to 12 in the night. My make up table was filled with facial products.

Now , we have so many products in the market promising us several benefits for our skin.

Serums , Emulsions , Water , Toner , Essences , Oil , Creams etc etc.

So how do we differentiate what are they for and which one should go first ?
Just remember , always go with the one with lightest texture first and creams should be the last !

Some Korean brands named their toner as Water , Refiner , Toner or Lotion.

So how do we know what are they ?

Here we go…

1) Toners.

They are often named as Facial Mist , Skin Refiner, Skin Balancing/Moisturizing Water , Skin Softener, Lotion or just Toner.

Basically you pour abit onto a cotton pad and wipe it across your face. The textures for toners are very light and mostly watery. This should be the first step after cleansing. The more moisturizing ones are usually quite heavy in texture and longer time to absorb.

2) Essence

Watery and light texture and this is usually applied after toner. Essences usually have a specific treatment which helps in whitening , brightening , pore tightening etc.

3) Serums

They are thicker in texture than Essences because of the high concentration of ingredients to target a skin concern. Mostly very gel-like textures.

3) Emulsions

Often termed as lotion or emulsion.

It is a form of light moisturizer and it should be applied before the main moisturizer. It is thicker and slightly creamier than the Essences and Serums.

4) Moisturizer

Often termed as Creams or Gel-Creams/Gel

Gels are the least creamy/oily followed by Gel Cream and then Cream.

Textures : Gel < Gel Cream < Cream

Personally i prefer the Gel cream types because it is not oily and not too light. I find the gel ones too light and “evaporated” too easy.

5) Ampoules

Very high concentration and usually are for hydrating purposes. During wedding make up , the MUA usually will ask if you want to add on ampoule before putting on make up. These ampoules helps your make up to stay fresh longer. Ampoules are light in textures and are usually sold in individual tiny bottles.

In short , here is the common sequence for putting on your skincare products.

Sometimes i switched the steps depending on the texture of the product.

The basic one which i did in the day :

1) Cleansing ( usually 1 step cleansing minus the cleansing oil and make up remover because i do not have any make up on )

2) Toner

3) Essence

4) Serum

5) Emulsion

6) Moisturizer

I have a more intense one for night. If im targeting on whitening/hydrating , all the products used below are usually from the same range.

1) Cleansing  (see above 3 steps cleansing )

2) Toner

3) Eye Gel

4) Essence

5) Serum ( 1 or 2 types of serums )

6) Ampoule ( if my target is whitening , usually i just put 2 serums and skip the ampoule )

7) Sheet mask/Hydrogel Mask

8) Emulsion

9) Gel-Cream Moisturizer

10) Hydrating/Cream/Whitening Cream/Sleeping Pack

Quite alot right ? Lol. Bo bian , if you want good skin..you have to do it.

Be gentle and not rubbing or scrubbing the products onto your face ! If you are still confused , just go from the lightest to heaviest texture.

Have fun and stay pretty !
