CNY is over..time really flies and it is going to be end of Feb soon. And i cannot wait for my Taiwan trip in March.

But first , i need to recover fast. I was coughing non-stop for almost 2 weeks. The cough was so bad until i had headache because i exerted alot of force when i cough. My cough also woke my hubs up at night and i cannot sleep well. The doctor did not prescribe me any antibiotics because i just finished a huge dose of antibiotics for 2 months because of some bacteria in my stomach and gastritis which was diagnosed when i went for my endoscopy 3 months ago.

So this weekend was spent at home resting and i also went for an appointment to meet a client.

Skin felt so dry. Always happens whenever im sick. I was clearing and throwing away used bottles of skincare and i found this few tubes of samples hidden stacks of cotton pads. My MIL brought it over last november.

I kinda like this. It doesn’t really brightens up my skin nor makes it glow but it does moisturise my skin overnight.

It is not sticky or oily too. The smell is also good. More of “supplement” for the skin. I am not sure how much is it retailing in KR or SG. But i saw this selling in Guardian. The descriptions on the packaging says it all. If you are looking for something that is non-greasy , nice scent and moisturising , this is something you can try. I won’t say that this is a must-buy. I don’t know why but when i used a certain kind of product and if it really gives me good results , i will strongly recommend and feels excited sharing and blogging it over here.

But here is something MUST BUY when you visit Korea !

You can buy from supermarkets in Korea.

I cannot find this in SG leh..My bro-in-law recommended this to me when i went to Korea in October last year.
If you are lazy to make and cook Budaejjigae from scratch , you just need this ramen. And just go to supermarket to buy Spam/hot dogs and throw them in.

Budaejjigae Ramen from Ottogi brand.

I have been working till late nowadays and falling sick , so i have not been cooking at home. The last time i cooked was almost a month ago ! I should start cooking again this coming weekend. Nowadays abit hard to do so on weekdays.  And perhaps this year’s trip in October , i should start learning how to make Korean side dishes ( ban chan ) so i can keep them in the fridge for hubby. Sigh..now his turn to go to gastroenterologists for scope liao. I think i cooked too much good food for him and too much pork belly. When i see him eat until very full , i feel happy mah…and he has a huge appetite also. Both of us usually bbq 5-6 packs of pork bellies when we eat at home. Now i cut down to 2 packs. Feel very sinful when i open my freezer..alot of pork belly.

This was what we have 3 weeks ago at home.

We hand carried the BBQ pan back from Busan and it has been very very useful lol esp on days we have cravings for Korean BBQ and don’t want to spend the $$ ( just buy the Por Kee pork belly & shabu shabu pork belly) or want to have quality meat ( from K&J Butchery @ Bukit Timah which we try to indulge once every 2 months ). And just buy golden mushrooms and lettuces from nearby supermarkets and we are good to start our home cooked Korean BBQ !

Brand of BBQ Pan : Kitchen Art (Refael Series) . KRW 19,900

You can buy from gmarket.

Gosh..look at the thick and juicy pork bellies !

Tomorrow is Monday ! Gonna be a loong day 🙂

Next post gonna be about #Smartlady and #SGahjumma (places we go for Korean food in SG). I am still working on my Busan tour post though.

#SGAHJUMMA Time  !

Throwback to last Christmas (2016). We had a Xmas party with the KBS (Korean Boyfriend & Spouse ) group at the top floor function room of The Sail Marina Bay’s condo. It was an awesome party with the kids ! The wives/fiancees were at one table chatting away , taking care and playing with the kids and had our own gift exchange. Whereas at the other table were the husbands/fiances rounding up for beer and chats. The kids were running around non-stop and i guessed they had a good sleep that night.

On Xmas eve, we went to Ah Ma’s house for Xmas party and on Xmas day, hubs and i just nua at home.

We also had our “Red and White” Christmas with Korean Ddokbokki (rice cakes) and instead of turkey , we had Jjimddak (Soy chicken).

How to cook Korean Spicy Rice Cake (Ddokbokki) ?

1) Boil 4-5 cups of water with kelps and anchovies ( to make the stock ). After the water boiled , take the kelps and anchovies out and throw them away.

2) In a bowl , add 5 table spoons of Korean Chilli Paste , 1.5 table spoon of sugar , 1 table spoon of Korean chilli flakes. Mix them together in the bowl.

3) Put in the Korean rice cake slices and Korean fish cakes (Odeng or Or-Muk) , chopped spring onions (in 2 inches long) and 2 peeled hard boil eggs into the boiling water.

**Hubby asked for this dish last minute and i couldn’t find Korean fish cakes at the nearest supermarket , so i replaced it with our chinese fish cakes and tau kee lol. I added in the left over zucchini in the fridge and cabbage as you can see in the picture. The traditional style is to add spring onions, fish cakes and eggs only.

4) Add in the sauce from 2) into the boiling water and mix well.

5) Let it boil for 15-20 minutes. Once the sauce becomes sticky , it is about time to be served.

Yes it is that easy. If you want , you can add in instant noodles and let it boil inside and it will be come a dish called Ra-Bokki (Ramyeon + Ddokbokki).

How to cook JjimDdak ?

1) Making the sauce. Mix 4.5 table spoons of soya sauce , 1.5 table spoon of sesame oil , 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper , 3 table spoon of sugar and 1 table spoon of minced garlic in a bowl.

3) Sliced some ginger . oil the frying pan and fry the sliced ginger.

4) Wash and dry the chicken parts before putting it into the frying pan to fry with the ginger slices. Once the skin of the chicken turned abit and slightly golden , add in water. Water should cover the chicken parts in the pot.

Add in sliced onions , potato and carrot chunks

5) Add in the sauce from step 1) and stir.

6) Let it boil and add 1 more table spoon of soya sauce and sprinkle black pepper. Add 1 tea spoon of salt.

7) Let it boil for about 20 minutes before serving.

Sprinkle chopped green onions for garnishing and ready to serve.

Some of my friends asked why the colour of my Jjimddak is so nice and dark but theirs are not ? Because i add in 1.5 tea spoon of the chinese dark soya sauce for colouring. Also , i didnt add dried chilli inside this time because i was having sore throat and cannot eat spicy food. If you want , you can also add in Korean potato starch noodle. Soak them in water and add them in at step 5.

Super easy to cook if you have the sauces.

Busan : My Family in Korea

After uploading the videos , i received several encouragements and good wishes from my readers and clients.

Thank you all for the support and kind words. I was happy to know that some of my readers felt so happy for me that they teared. Some followed me since they were 19 or 20 during their JC/Uni days till now. They have seen me going through many ups and downs in life and happy to know that i am happy now. Thank you all so much for the love 🙂 *Hugs*

Here are some snippets of our ROM in SG taken by my photographer friend Clarence Aw ( http://www.clarenceaw.com/ ) whom i engaged his service for that day.

dp-sg010

Bought children Hanboks for my niece and nephews who were my flower girl and boy that day. Bought the Hanboks in Korea and had my brother-in-law to handcarry it to SG when he attended our ROM.  It was 2 weeks before Chu Seok ( Thanksgiving Day ) when i ordered the Hanboks online so they were going at 50% off ! Quality was surprising very good and really satisfied with it. Esp the skirting for the flower girl. There are embossed floral patterns and made of silk.

dp-sg017

Weather was very hot. My fringe all already stuck to my face and hair flat and cui already.

dp-sg027

The baby breath flower ring was inspired by a Korean florist. I followed the florist on Instagram and i always “stalk” her instag to see the beautiful flowers and bouquets she made. Maybe it is the weather issue , the baby breaths in Korea are much more bigger and “denser” . The ribbon tie to it is Ferragamo inspired. Saw it on the instag and i forwarded to my wedding venue stylist to do something similar.

dp-sg035 dp-sg037 dp-sg038 dp-sg053

My guest reception table. I bought all the styling and decors for only SGD 80 from taobao including the huge LOVE signage with light bulbs.

This is very funny….he made the chair looked very very small. Whereas i fitted in nicely.

dp-sg089

Thank you my dear friends for their help ( Elaine  and girls ) for the help. Without them , i would have to do everything myself. I didn’t have bridesmaids for my wedding in SG and KR. LOL Mr Shin says no need only until the day because he doesn’t want to have the gate crash. He doesn’t want to “work” or “exercise” under the hot weather.  You can watch from our Pre-wedding video. One thing he doesn’t like about SG is that …it is summer all year round. Lol. The only thing that motivates him to go under the hot sun in SG is BASEBALL practice nia.

Love the packaging  from Framewerks for our Pre-wedding videos.

Our precious thumbdrive. Which Tommy rushed to edit and passed it to us at the airport before our flight 🙂
Thank you Tommy from Framewerks for the hardwork and we really love the videos !

You know , the thing i missed about Korea is not just the food or the skincare. But the food !

I just must have my favourite Andong Jjimdak whenever im in Korea. This huge plate..REALLY HUGE PLATE cost only KRW 30,000. Looks small on the picture because i was using my phone to take pictures and the angles. I cannot describe how bigger it was here.

Bong Chu Jjimdak restaurant is my favourite !

dsc03523 dsc03521

My mother-in-law cooked alot of my favourite and delicious food at home. Including my favourite Korean BBQ !

We even had it at home. I like this cozy home. The new apartment is going to be ready in 2018 so my brother-in-law rented a place for 2 years first while waiting for the new apartment.

Pork Bellies !

dsc03529 dsc03534

dsc03538

And my brother-in-law is really good at bbq-ing.

dsc03539

My mother-in-law’s 3 year old kimchi. I got a shocked to know that there is a 5 year old kimchi in the kimchi fridge too. Yes kimchi that she made 3-5 years ago. OH MAN…it tastes sooo good. The older the kimchi , the better it taste.

dsc03540

 dsc03542 dsc03541

An earthquake happened when we were bbq-ing. Our dog was barking suddenly and then the news came that there was an earthquake. We couldn’t feel it though.

View from the window beside my bed. Ahhh sun , sea and mountain…. ~~~

This was taken after Typhoon Chiba.

 dsc03576

Speaking of which , this is the first time i experienced a Typhoon. It was really scary. The sound of the wind was so loud , the rattling windows beside my bed.  I was so afraid that the window will break and the glass will shatter and scratch my face lor . I couldn’t sleep the whole night because the windows kept shaking and made alot of banging sound.  The Typhoon happened 3 days before my wedding. And my wedding was at Haeundae Beach which is the affected area.

We taped the windows to prevent it from breaking. A sudden gust of strong wind during the typhoon could have broken it or cracked into pieces.

20161005_101117

News of the damage all over the news.
I also received alot of calls, messages and even emails from my relatives , friends and even my readers asking me to report my safety because they are worried. I was really touched by their concerns esp my readers. Im sorry if i cannot reply to everything fast on time because my phone was flooded with incoming calls and messages.

20161005_101654_001 20161005_101705

Typhoon started the night before and ended next day 12pm. Suddenly at 12pm , it is the “peak” of the typhoon. Where suddenly the rainfall was very very heavy and the wind was really really strong. Then suddenly once that was over, the sky suddenly just turned clear and sunny and everything was back to normal. Like really sudden. I was surprised also.

This was taken on the afternoon after the typhoon. Infront of my wedding venue. The Busan International Film Festival Village was destroyed and torn by the typhoon , tiles were overturned and wooden stuff and debris all over the beach. Alot of cleaners were picking up the pieces. Even after my wedding day , they were still clearing the beach and the hotels around.

20161005_160638

This is the area and buildings you saw on the internet where the water gushed in to the buildings and swept away the cars. This was taken 2 hours after the typhoon.

20161005_174615

Hehe Oppa and my brother-in-law always bring me out for nice food !

We had steam pork bellies ( Su Yuk ) at Oppa’s friend’s restaurant. Very very nice. Even my relatives and my brother went there to eat again and again.

This is his restaurant.

부산 해운대구 해운대해변로265번길 11-2 .

The restaurant is beside the BMW showroom along the main stretch at Haeundae. You won’t miss the BMW. So it will be easy to find.

20161006_163641

I also had Si Chuan food at Busan University Street.

You must be wondering like..what the..go all the way to Korea to have Si-Chuan food ?
This one tasted really authentic. Same as the one i had in China 2 years ago.

Mapo Tofu

20161004_200742_001

The Mala Xiang Guo is really nice. The wohei flavour was very strong also.
Super nice and i was pestering to go back for more hahaha. There is only one Si Chuan restaurant that sits 10 pax in Busan University Street. If you are nearby you should try.

Add is at 부산 금정구 수림로61번길 49 장성하우스 부산 금정구 장전동 155-16 .

Tel : 010-7474-8385 ( Owner of restaurant is Korean who speaks really fluent chinese ).

Tonkatsu + Kimbap .

Gosh this is soo sinful.

20161005_163658

On the day we “climb” or walked up the mountain to my father-in-law’s , grandfather and grandmother-in-law’s graves.

That’s my MIL with her pet chihuahua Bomi.

  dsc03564

After paying respect at the graves , we drove back to Busan and stopped by Changwon which was on the way to have this very famous beef patty. We wanted to go to the famous cold noodle restaurant at Jinju instead but the queue was so long and we have to wait for 1.5 hrs. So we decided to drive upwards and head to Changwon to have this instead.

OMG it is soo good please. Soo good that i didn’t talk and just eat and eat. It was cooked using fire and charcoal or wood.
So there is a very strong “fire” taste. Really very nice.

dsc03573 dsc03574 dsc03575

This is super duper nice.

I miss the food in Korea !

Hello ladies ! Well , i receive couple of messages and emails to request for more blogging updates.

I realized that my blogging frequency kinda reduced by 50% ? Instead of 4 posts a month , it dropped to 2 posts a month. Well , kinda busy these 2 months. Plus my health was not really good in a point which is also something i want to share with everyone later. I will try to share at least 4 times a week here.

Its been 2 months since we moved into a rented apartment. Life was good. Felt like home though it was rented. Lol now i worry about moving to a new place if we were not to renew our rental here next year. Because there are so much to move and pack ! I really can’t wait to apply for his PR so that we can apply for housing here , settle down and start a family.

1 more month to our ROM in SG and 2 more months to our wedding in Busan. Friends and family members will be flying over and alot of accommodation arrangement to do. MIL sold off her hotel inn and franchised a BBQ restaurant. If she still have the inn it will be quite easy to house everyone because the location was very convenient. MIL’S apartment in Busan will only be ready in 2018. Next time my family members and friends can stay there if they travel to Busan.

So do i feel excited about our wedding ? ehhh to be honest , both of us don’t feel that yet.

Because we both felt like we were married already. After work , i will come home to do the laundry , cook if i have time and if it is not too late and i do grocery shopping every sunday.

Here’s what i prepared last sunday.

Korean Ginseng Chicken and Salad ( diced apples , lettuce , chia seeds , bavarian sausage and oriental salad sauce.

Took 1 hour to boil the ginseng chicken and while it is boiling , i will prepare the salad. So took about total of 1.5 hours to prepare.

1469964833815_mh1469964908973

Korean ginseng chicken is pretty easy to cook. Sounds and looks difficult but very easy.

All you need is…

  1. 1) 10 cloves of garlic ( do not minced it or chop it ! )

2) Ginseng and some herbs

3) Lots of red dates , i put about 18-20 small red dates.

5) Whole chicken (washed and with head and feet removed .

I trimmed off the fats and take away some skin ( not fully ).

6) 1 teaspoon of salt

7) 1 whole onion ( chopped into half )

Firstly , i boil a pot of water and add in some kelps. Let it boil for about 15 minutes.

In another pot , i lay the seasonings ( Onions , red dates , ginseng , herbs and garlics ) at the bottom of the pot and then i will put the chicken in nicely. This is so that one side of the chicken do not get burnt. This is also so that the seasoning will not all float to the top.

Add 1 teaspoon of salt.

Turn on medium heat for about 30 minutes to cook the chicken and after that i switched to low heat for next 30 minutes.

When i switched to low heat , i will transfer the cut the ginseng chicken into 4 parts and transfer the chicken and soup into the Korean stone pot. The stone pot helps to keep soups and stews hot because it retains heat. I prefer buying the matt ones.

Because my chicken was too big and i can’t squeeze into the largest stone pot that i had, so i cooked the ginseng chicken in a normal non stick pot and transfer it to stone pot.

It is pretty easy. Just throw everything into the pot and let it boil on medium and low heat and ready to serve.

So how about the dipping sauce ?

All you need is just salt + black pepper. Yes that’s right.

Saw the little dish that is between the salad and ginseng chicken ? That is the dipping sauce.

*
Salad was pretty easy.

I bought lettuce and cut them into bite sizes. Cut green apples and diced them.

Add chia seeds and sausage.

I bought Oriental Salad Sauce from a Koryo Mart in Telok Ayer street. The sauce is very nice and im going there to buy more bottles back !

Yumms

That was our Sunday’s dinner !

Well , i have invited some friends over for dinner and BBQ. I think the main focus was my skin care and make up collection in the room.

Here’s a “view” of my daily facial care routine.

Here’s what i keep in the toilet. Didnt include my cleanser in this photo though.

But below are what i used to remove make up and apply right after my shower.

From left to right :

After shower care :
1) Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Serum

2) CNP Laboratory Invisible Peeling Booster

Make up removers :

3) Biore Cleansing Water

4) Biore Jelly Remover

5) Maxclinic Oil to Foam Vit C Cleanser

DSC03350A

Well , i usually remove the make up with Jelly remover because it is very gentle and i do not need to tug with cotton pads. I use the cleansing water only if i tightline my eyes with eyeliner or remove stubborn mascara.

The oil to foam cleanser was mainly to remove the BB cushion creams. Because it changes to foam after lathering with water , it does not give that oily feel.

Because i triple cleanse my face , i will buy mild cleansers so that i wont dry out my skin.

This are my serums and creams which i kept them in basket.

DSC03351A

Sulwhasoo Essential Water , Hera Cell Essence , Leaders Vit C Capsule Serum , Bioderma Hydrabio Serum , Hera Waterin Gel Serum and CNP Propolis Energy Ampoule.

The Sulwhasoo set was a gift from Mil’s friend who works for Amore Pacific. I actually prefer the Hera ones which i used previously compared to Sulwhasoo. Well perhaps because im still trying to get used to Sulwhasoo right now.

I switch between Bioderma and Hera’s hydrating serum. Texture are the almost similar. Hydrating effect for Bioderma is slightly better but takes a longer time to absorb than Hera.

I like the Propolis Energy Ampoule from CNP. It is good and can see the brightening effect after few days. This is my 2nd bottle already. I switch between the CNP ampoule and Leaders Vit C serum depending on what kind of hydrogel or sheet mask im putting on that day.

CNP Laboratory is a Korean brand and available in SG’s Watsons and Guardians. I suggest you go to the bigger Watsons and Guardian outlets to buy because they have a bigger range. The small outlet ones have very limited products.

You can buy them from Olive and Young in Korea. But the bottles are very heavy.

DSC03352A

Here are my emulsions, moisturizers and overnight treatment/creams.

Overnight mask from Sulwhasoo , Anti aging treatment from HERA , Moisturizers from CNP Lab and Primera and Emulsion from Sulwhasoo. I don’t use 2 moisturizers and 2 overnight creams of cos. It will be too much on my face. My Primera moisturizer is finishing soon so im switching over to CNP after that. I use the anti aging treatment on weekends and the clarifying mask from Sulwhasoo on week days.

DSC03354A

Of cos , not to forget your eyes !

Waterin eye serum from Hera. I love this alot ! This is my 5th or 6th stick i think in 2 years. I use this day and night.

DSC03355A

So i guess on average i apply about 8 products each time in the day and 9 products each time at night. If i were to include my 3 steps cleansing , that will be 11 – 12 products ( excluding sheet masks ).

It really takes alot of time and discipline to do so !

If you were to ask me to review and if the products above are worth buying ?
Yes they are !
I have reviewed everything before except for the Bioderma Serum and CNP Lab products. Will do so next time round !

#KDrama

Before i start blogging , here is a video you should watch.

New Korean drama coming up on 15th August !
Moonlight Drawn By the Clouds featuring Park Bo Gum.

Here is a teaser by KBS.

Im waiting for the drama loh. Debuting on 15th August which means that it will be online by 16th August in SG.

Park Bo Gum is soooo cute lah !  Maybe he will be the next Song Joong Ki !

I got a new buy to share in #Kbeauty

Pony Effect’s Everlasting Cushion.

Pony is a famous make up artist in Korea. The Korean version of Michelle Phan i will say. She is CL’s make up artist. You can follow her on instagram. I just bought her lipstick and primers as well. Will review once i used it.

I bought this from Gmarket to try. If it is good , i will ask my brother-in-law to buy 2-3 of it from the beauty shop opposite his house and bring them to SG for me. Hehe. I bought Pony’s eyeshadow palette from the beauty shop back in May and i really like the shades.

Verdict : MUST BUY !

Packaging is very posh looking and not that bulky.

DSC03342A DSC03343A DSC03344A

Rose gold rims.

DSC03345A DSC03346A DSC03347A DSC03349A

Cost about KRW 39,000 and it comes with a refill pack.

Coverage : 8/10

Dewiness : 8/10

Moisturizing effect : 9/10

Lasting : 8/10

One thing i don’t really like about it is that it can make my face looks oily. So if you have oily skin , you may want to top up with a loose powder.

I bought the colour Ivory Beige. It makes my skin looks abit fairer So if you are not comfortable with having a “whitish look” , you can try Rosy Ivory which comes with a slight pink tinge.

Yes, Buy and Try !  Worth it !

7297952_71935101-04d1-4e7f-8486-06f11f892972

It comes in 5 shades.

It is similar to that of HERA. Im just attracted to its packaging and the packaging is less bulky so it wont make my make up pouch so bulgy.

Well Kbeauty and Kdrama aside for now , i have created a chat group for SG-KOR couples. All of us have Korean husbands/fiance. So if you are keen to join this group , drop me an email at peonykissblog@gmail.com .  We do meet ups and planning to do double dates. I created this group so that all of us can learn and pick up tips from each other. Some of us were already married with kids , some getting married and some planning to. Those getting married can get tips from those who were already married on the applications and steps etc. It is good to have some support back home in SG and in Korea. So incase anyone moves to Korea or need help or company there when we all go back during festive seasons like Lunar New Year and Thanksgiving day.

Yup infact , all of us go back to Korea for few days to few weeks for the Lunar New Year and Thanksgiving day. So we can meet up for coffee or hangout. Good to have friends and support when we are all in foreign land.
So yup , if you want to join us , do drop me an email. Currently i only add in those who are in serious relationships ( with marriage in plans at least).

Hehe..i named the group #KBS which stands for Korean Boyfriends and Spouse . Haha nice one ?

But if you have a Korean wife/fiancee and keen to join this group , we also don’t mind lah..but you better get your wife’s or fiancee approval first. Because it is all girls in the group at the moment.

OMG 2.5 more months to my wedding in Korea and 1.5 more months to my ROM in SG.

Just last week , there was a day when my mobile phone was vibrating like crazy. Yes it is always on vibration mode now because im so busy with work these days. And alot of friends and even my clients sent me this article published on straits time on 11th July.

http://www.straitstimes.com/asia/east-asia/korean-mother-in-laws-mantra-please-cook-for-my-son

The article makes everything sounds like hell but it was not that case for me. My MIL gave me alot of freedom. We have a group chat but she didnt always call or bug me with smses. I guess probably she is occupied with her new Korean BBQ business in Busan and she knows im quite automatic. Because when i cook , i will send photos over. I do clean my house , wash up and do laundry etc on my own daily. So she didn’t need to check on me because she trust that i do that on my own and im cleaner than her son hehehe. I would say that my MIL doesn’t have that mantra but more of that my fiance has that mantra that i have to cook for him leh. Yup , he expects me to cook , know how to do housework etc. I think he is more traditional lol.

Im planning to cook spicy pork ribs stew and bean paste soup or soon dubu soup this weekend.

My friends asked me how come i can come up with different dishes everyday and never run out of idea and where did i learn all these recipes that are so delicious and easy to cook ?

Well , i picked up from my Mother-in-law , my mum and also through a programme by a famous Korean chef Baek Jong won. He owns Bornga Korean Restaurant in SG. There is an outlet in Vivo and Buona Vista. I prefer the one at Buona Vista. Yup you can try the Korean food there. It is good !

I watch his program every week when  i go to work or when im on the way to appointment. Gives me idea what to cook. I just learnt how to cook aglio oglio. It is so easy and it became our version of “instant food” because it is soo easy to cook. I mixed it with Bulgogi lol..Korean-western style ? I cooked with tiger prawns just last week (western style).

Here is where i got the recipe for Bean Paste Soup Stew (Duenjang Jiggae). The one all of you asked me to blog about.

Super easy to cook and very delicious. I made it within 15 minutes.  If you cannot find radish , you can replace it with zucchini which i always use. My MIL version is slightly different. She don’t use instant soya bean paste and chilli pepper paste. She used home made soya bean paste made by my grandmother-in-law. The one you always see in drama where they put in a huge clay pot and ferment it. So it tastes really original and savory.

Korean Steam Egg

Bet that this is everybody’s favourite.

Enjoy his videos !
More to share this weekend with my new PONY EFFECT primers and pore brush.

∆˜≈‰≈◊¿Ã∫Ì4x6-HUN_1528

2 more months to our ROM in SG and 3 more months to our ROM in Korea. Time really flies. Been very busy lately and my meal timing were kinda screwed. Last week was a packed with full of meetings , meeting new people and also preparing for the big day ( final discussion for the ROM in SG ). Everything is sort of settled thanks for recommendations from friends. And also i am addicted to scrolling Taobao right now. Alot of wedding decors and ornaments that are so cheap and nice. Instead of renting , i can buy them at $5 , use them for my ROM and bring home to decorate my place. They even have the cutest guest book at $6.

And i just chanced upon another wedding song which i really like. Was thinking of using this for march-in song and the other song by Huk-Gak to be sung by my bro-in-law’s friend who is our live band.

This is my tentative  choice for march-in song .

My MUA was settled. Wendy from Lushlashh will be my make up artist and also having my lashes done at Lushlashh. I really like her work and patience. The lashes she did for me are always so natural. I always go for K-style lashes which was supposed to be “no-make-up-or-lash-extensions look” . There is a vast difference between Kstyle lashes and Jap style lashes. Japanese one are more vavavoom and glamourous looking. But it doesn’t suit me and i don’t like to look too over.

The lashes Wendy did for me are so natural that some people i spoke to asked if they are my real lashes or i had extensions done. They cannot see the difference when they look at me face to face. But from the side view , you can see that it is longer. Im not sure what kind curls i go for because i ask her to replicate the one i did in Korea. She has my details. So if you want the natural looking K-lashes , just tell her you read my blog and wanted the same set as mine. If you are worried that if it will look too natural as if you have nothing on and you think it is “waste of money” ? You don’t need to worry about it because you can see a difference before and after. Btw i also always go for one which make my eyes look like im wearing an eyeliner when i am not. Anyways , she has my history and data. You can tell her that you want the lashes that Peiling did. Lushlashh is located at level 2 of Arcade Shopping Centre at Raffles Place.

Here are some of the lash extensions i have done.

And as for my hair , Joanne at Hair Affairs Chevron House will dye for me . I went to her before my Pre-wedding shoot trip to get my hair dyed to a nice violet red colour. It looks sooo nice and my MIL also said it was a good choice of colour. My readers will get some discounts if you mention my name. Btw , i paid for these services and these are not adverts. If you read my blog long enough , i have stopped doing adverts for 2-3 years and all are based on my persona experiences and reviews. Anyway you have to call to book appointment. She starts work as early as 8am. I went at 8am before and the salon was filled with bankers and tai tais who wake up early to wash and curl their hair to prepare for work at 9am. I don’t think i will do that man. I would rather sleep more. She has been in the line for more than 30 years and her banker clients followed her for more than 20 years.

Here are some hair inspirations i have got. I am tempted to my dye my hair again before my trip to Korea for my wedding.

I don’t know to do RED…

edbfcaf3fb88883489c452e949730ded 3961fd9139264900a1e68f66e9d2485a 16a0c0ed925ece7b6a7a376368cd68de 9fd3811a780d875263da54a8ad50a4aa

or this colour…

I wanted to do this kind of curls.

16a0c0ed925ece7b6a7a376368cd68de

But because at that time my hair was badly damaged and i really want to have healthier hair so that i can perm in October in Korea…plus my recent diving trip made my hair worst…soooo….

I went to find Joanne to cut all the bad split ends off and now i have shoulder length hair. Hair ends are healthier now and easier to manage. So now i just need to wait for it to grow, maintain my hair …then hopefully i can perm.

Done with #Kbeauty and now with #SGAHJUMMA

I cooked Carbonara Ramyeon on sat night. Oppa is away for biz trip in Europe and back only next week. I wanted to cook Andong Jjimddak but it will be too much for one person to eat. So , it is Carbonara Ramyeon for tonight.

DSC03338A

Korea is an instant food heaven. Alot of instant food and some are claimed to be healthy choice. Well …my bro-in-law never uses the seasoning packs. He used the Korean shrimp sauce, pepper flakes and soya sauce to make his own ramyeon seasoning. Healthier this way because msg in the seasoning packs are not really good for health. This is something i want to learn from him when he comes in Sept.

My kitchen cupboard with instant noodles. Something i don’t really like and only cook if i got no choice or too lazy to go out to buy food.

DSC03329A

Here is the recipe. To be honest , it is recommended to use SHIN Rammyeon. But i was too lazy to walk 10 mins out just to buy a packet of ramen so i used whatever is the closest to Shin Ramyeon that i had at home.

DSC03331A

1 pack of Hi-Lo low fat milk (200ml).

DSC03332A

Mozzarella Cheese.

DSC03330A

Boil 400ml of water at high heat. If you do not have a measuring cup , empty the milk from the carton into a cup and use the empty carton to fill with water to measure since the milk carton is 200ml.

Once the water boiled , add in the ramyeon and the seasoning packs for about 3 minutes.

Add the entire pack of 200ml of hi-lo milk. Let it boil for 2 minutes and add a handful of mozzarella cheese. How much cheese you want is up to you. I like cheese and like my noodles to be slightly sticky with cheese so i added ALOT. Stir.

DSC03335A

Once done , you can serve it in a bowl.

Easy and shiok ! I paired with seaweed chicken seaweed and Kimchi ! Oh and a cup of cold Yuzu drink.

DSC03340A

Hope you enjoyed it. Very simple. Just need 15 minutes and you get Carbonara Ramyeon.

Now that we are living on our own , which means alot of bills and groceries to do. For Oppa, he has been living on his own for years but for me this is the first time i moved out. I paid utilities and bills at my own home but now that i moved out , there are more to pay. Being a financial planner and a financial planner in our house , i am in charge of the utilities and expenses. I record and keep receipts and limit groceries shopping to $50 a week. I have been buying so many things from Korea websites and mart now that i find buying all the necessities in SG are so expensive. When i travel to Korea , i will buy everything there and bring over. Now that we need some things urgently and i went to the supermarkets to buy and got shock at the price. In Korea i can buy 3 good shampoos for $10 and here 1 good one for more than $10. My work schedules are pretty tight. I start my day early and ended my day late which means that i can’t go to local market in the day time and so i depended alot on 24hr supermarkets. You must be wondering why now then i realized that things are expensive in SG. Not that i now then realized , i realized it long ago but just that im not used to buying my daily necessities in SG yet except for food.

#SMARTLADY

Here was what i got from Gmarket.

Yes whatever number of sanitary pads here you see is just 10,900won which is about SGD 13.

If you have used Korean pads before you will know the difference. Some of my friends even asked me to buy a carton for them and ship to SG for them when im in Korea. They are made of cotton and really damn comfy. Better than those nylon netting ones that are commonly used.

Screen Shot 2016-07-03 at 3.34.34 PM

I think these 2 “towers” of pads can last me 2 years i guess. Some people said im getting to “ahjumma” ..because i cooked , i cleaned my own house and i do grocery shopping. Those who said that are mostly singles. Married women i met and know and are working mums or wives like me do not agree that  we are “ahjumma” just because we are more careful with how we spend and just because we clean the house and not hiring a maid to do so and go to the markets to do grocery shopping. This is our responsibility as a wife. Even though we are working and we can afford to spend doesn’t mean we have to spend what we have. Cash is still KING. We are not stingy ..we are careful with our monies and how we handle them. I handle the monies at home. Oppa is a saver but im a super saver so im the one in charge. I planned our saving plans , insurances and monthly expenses. He can see an increase in his savings after i did his planning.

Also i want to add that i really pei fu those working mums. Some of them can work and take care of the house for years. I just started for 2 months and im quite drained. I reached home after 8pm everyday because of appointments . Once i reached home , i will clean the house abit and do the laundry before i shower and sleep. And i wake up at 745am everyday to make breakfast before i prepare for work. Tired ?..yes..but i will not complain…

Now im learning to cook more dishes and more healthier choices. Diet and life style is what caused alot of young people these days to fall sick or diagnosed with illnesses. Some of my clients are so young and already diagnosed with illnesses. Some are young parents. When i met them and did planning for them i also felt very heart pain.

Take a break if you need to. Health is everything.

Alot of joys this week also..some of my friends and clients gave birth. And i feel excited planning for the little ones. I dont know when but we are thinking of trying for kids maybe next year.

Times flies…it is 430pm now and i need to pack my bag for my team trip to Kukup in JB.

Have a good weekend !

ROM location- Done.

Catering – Done

Venue styling – Done

Flowers – Done

Now just need to file notice of marriage with ROM and book my JP.

Yup we are having a cozy and intimate ROM ceremony in SG and the main wedding will be in Korea.

Everything is almost done.

Make up and hair – Make up artist and lash technician booked with Lushlashh. Wendy will be my make up artist. She did my lashes for my pre wedding shoot. The lash studio is located at Arcade (Raffles Place). Lol..when i feel tired and want to take a nap , i will go find her to do my lashes. So i can sleep for an hour and wake up with beautiful eyes.

Btw i just bought the Laneige concealer cushion and also the highlighter cushion! I love it!

C360_2016-04-29-12-05-46-533

Red Cheongsam – done and waiting for last minute touches.

Hair coloring – Booked appointment with Joanne @ Hair Affairs. I have been going to her to get my hair done. She did my hair colour for my pre-wedding shot. The make up artists in Korea and everyone said the colour is very nice and looks good for phototaking. So it was a good choice made by Joanne !  Her salon is located conveniently at Chevron House ( Raffles Place ). So sometimes i popby over lunch hours or tea time to get my hair cut.

Actually i have quite a number of things to share. But too many things on my mind. Work…wedding prepp…cleaning the house…what groceries do i need to buy…have i paid this and that bill…and what to cook.

Yes talking about what to cook….well we just moved to a rented place recently.

So yup , i have been waking up at 745am in the morning to make breakfast , dish washing and bring in the laundry before i prepare for work.

Yes..very tiring. So i really pei fu those ladies who can work and look after house at the same time. My sat morning is all about grocery shopping , vacuum and cleaning the house. After that ….totally no energy already.

So last week , i went to Korean supermarket. It is soooo hard to find a good Korean supermarket and those good one which stocks up all Korean made sauces etc are so far far west. Mostly are at Bukit Timah area.

So yup …i shall name some of my posts as #sgahjumma ( meaning SG auntie ). Married women in Korea are called Ahjummas. It does not necessarily mean “auntie” but it is just a term for married women. SG Ahjumma #sgahjumma posts shall be about my cooking and life as a wife of a Korean.

So now have K-beauty (Korean beauty and make up) , SG Ahjumma (Food and Lifestyle) and Smart Lady ( Finance ).

Speaking of which , i haven’t blog much about K-beauty lately. Because to be honest im still using the same brand and skincare from Hera and Sulwhasoo. For hair care , im still using Korean shampoos and recently my mother in law bought me boxes of hair packs from Cha Hong which i will blog about it later after i took pics of it. Cha Hong is a famous celebrity hair stylist in Korea and she came up with her own haircare line.

Well , back to SG Ahjumma lol.

Yup so i shopped at Korean mart and bought alot of sauces and spices.

Here are the staples for Korean food cooking. You definitely need Soya Sauce , Sesame oil , Vinegar and Salt. I keep a bottle of soju in the fridge to marinade with meat to get rid of the strong “meaty” or “porky” smell.

With these sauces,  you can whip most of the basic dishes already. Btw there are 2 types of soy sauces. One is for soup and one for normal cooking.

DSC03321

But it is hard to find them. That is the problem. There are so many Korean marts in town but none of them have the entire and full range of sauces available. So i have to go to NTUC to buy the chilli pepper flakes from CJ , sauces from Shine supermarket and Lotte Mart and the rest from Sol Mart.

This was the first meal i cooked at our new place.

Kimchi Soup and Norweigan Salmon in lemon butter sauce.

1) Kimchi Jiggae

Sliced pork belly , garlic , green chilli peppers and Kimchi. I had cravings for Tofu so i added some tofu also.

There is no need to add any red chilli pepper paste ( gokchujang ) or the chilli flakes.

DSC03220A

Firstly , boil water and add in some medium size ikan billis. After the water boiled for about 5 minutes , remove the ikan billis. Keep the water aside.

Fry the pork belly slices in a non-stick pot.

DSC03222

Once the pork bellies are cooked , add in Kimchi and the Kimchi juice (the leftover sauces in the kimchi packets/tubs).
Those sauce is the essence.  We call it Kimchi juice. It is the essence that makes the soup nice.

Fry the kimchi and the pork belly for 5 minutes and then add the juice form the kimchi pack/tubs.

DSC03223

After that , stew it on medium heat for about 5 minutes. There should be a very very nice fragrant.

After that , add in the boiling water which was set aside after throwing away the ikan billis.

DSC03225

Add in Tofu or golden mushrooms , tunas or Spams if you want after that.

Let the whole pot of Kimchi soup simmer at low heat for about 30 minutes.

And then it is ready to be served ! On simple days , you can just cook this soup , fry 2 sunny side ups and rice to eat. Simple and easy.

Decided to eat at the balcony cos it was cooling and raining.

DSC03229

And i steamed salmon too ! Very proud of this haha because it is my first time to make steamed salmon fillet.

I adde lemons , ginger , onions and butter. But i first marinate the salmon with soy sauce , salt and pepper.

DSC03235

And i made bean paste soup the next day too. Very easy and just took 30 minutes.

You need to buy the bean paste.

DSC03240

Because we do not have a rice cooker at home yet (brother-in-law will bring from Korea for us in Sept..because my fiance only believes in that particular Korean rice cooker brand) , i replaced rice with Korean sweet potato noodles.

I made a mistake to boil it together with the bean paste soup. Because the noodle soaked up alot of soup..

DSC03241

So it ended looking abit dry. And i have to prepare the soup broth again with the bean paste and boiling water to top it up.

DSC03242

Ingredients for the soya bean paste soup.

Not in the picture are lala and minced garlic.

DSC03239

Everything is so yummz and easy to make.

Im really becoming SG Ahjumma already.

Btw , if you are looking for quality meat for Korean bbq at home , you should head down to K&J Butchery which is located conveniently infront of beauty world MRT. It is opened by a Korean and you can find really yummy Pork bellies. I just held a housewarming and ordered 5 trays of pork bellies. Cost about $116 for 5 trays about 7 or 8kg but it is damn good. Everyone loves it. 2nd floor of the butchery is a Korean mart. You can buy all your sauces , lettuces etc for your home made Korean BBQ there.

Getting abit hungry after blogging all these food !

Im addicted to this new variety show called Same Bed , Different Dreams.
It is a very interesting show..so you must definitely watch it !

So dead tired now. Reach home at about 9pm daily , do some housework and laundry.

Too tired..sometimes i want to blog and share some things but too tired to do so and kept postponing the blogging. Until to the point that i forgot what i want to blog and share liao. I haven’t even plan and make the bookings for my relatives and friends who are flying to Busan for my wedding in Oct. GOSH ! I just realized it.
Really need to write down what i need to do on a paper and strike them off one by one !
Haven even decided on the photos yet. Just managed to filter those we like from the 1800++ pics. And now need to finalize all of them.

But next up gonna be on K-beauty and Smart Lady posts. So sorry, i know some of you emailed me to request that i share this and that but too many things and i lost track what to share. You can email me at peonykisblog@gmail.com if you have any questions!

Hehe here’s a new drama that i am addicted to currently.

Rain is soooooooo hot (GOSH! Fangirl blushing here).

The drama plot is very well done and very funny.
You should start watching this because this is a new Korean drama hit. Now on its 5th episode 🙂

Please-Come-Back-Mister-05

Yay…i can’t wait for my trip to Korea in end April. There are quite a number of people asking where and how i get it arranged. Well , i think it is better for me to blog about my experiences and the process after i have done the shoot. So i can share my experiences and thing to take note of for those who are shooting their wedd photos in Korea.

Oppa is going back in March first and i have so many skin care to stock up. Haha i think he will “faint” if he saw my stock up list. I am switching some products to Sulwhasoo. Not that Hera is not good. But im starting on anti-aging products and i will prefer Sulwhasoo.

I realized i haven’t been blogging here much. Lately , i was busy running around SG to meet my clients and prospects.

Receiving this kind of messages made my day. This is from one of my youngest clients. And all my clients will message me “Thank you for your help” .

Msg

Some of my friends always teased me saying that i am “motherly” or “housewife-ish” cos i cook , clean the house etc. But i guess this motherly nature of mine was well appreciated by my clients and prospects.

Im glad to be in this line. Something i like to do because i love meeting people and getting to know more people. And also i learn to be more appreciate and cherish the people around me and i should help more people. Throughout my course in this line , i have met different families , situations and people. That is also something i want to blog about. Because i just went to the hospital last week to visit someone young ( Age 15 ) who was on life support before she passed on. I will blog about this separately and it will be part of the “Smart Lady” posts where i will talk about financial planning.

Good news !
Hoodadak is opening soon on Monday 14th March at Galaxis @ One North. It is just above One North MRT.

Menu includes Korean dishes , chicken and beer. The chef and bosses are Korean. And the chef was working previously at Chicken Up and other restaurants in Korea. Come here for Korean food with some in Korean homemade sauces.

2 dishes which you have to try are the fried chicken in different Korean sauces and also the Andong JjimDdak .

Andong is a town in Korea and they are famous for Jjimddak (Chicken stew). There is the spicy and non-spicy version. But here in Hoodadak they are serving the spicy version.

Come support the Oppas in their new opening. This is a place where i will “park” myself to do work and also help out abit after my work or when im free. The Oppas are always looking for home cooked taste Korean food in SG and now they will all come to Hoodadak. Come come and you may see there often especially during dinner time. Say hi if we see each other there !

Paiseh , my blog abit boring these days. Quite busy with work , wedding preparation and taking care of my health.

Alot of things to research and look for my wedding prep because once i arrive in Korea in April , i will do my wedding shoots , hair dye and perms etc etc all together lol. Some readers have emailed me to ask how and where and what i do for my wedding prep. But because i have not seen the real thing in Korea yet , i can’t review or advice much yet. Wait till end of April okay ? haha my bro is coming to Korea with me too. I helped him to arrange his pre wedding shoots there.

Oh there is a cheongsam tailor shop i want to recommend. If you are keen in making your own cheongsam for your wedding. Im going for fitting next tuesday. Will take a picture and blog here !

Look out for the following posts in March

Smart Lady post on financial planning and health planning (for ladies!)

Shopping in Korean sites

Wedding preparation in Korea

Cheongsam making in SG

Korean food and recipe

Korean make up and skin care ( new ones which i bought ! )

Because someone was commenting that there is no “Christmas” atmosphere in SG (because he was used to snowy white Christmas) , so i decided to prepare some steamboat , invited his friends and also decorated the house with some ornaments i bought from daison. Lol..but it felt like CNY to me because one of the mama store in the neighbourhood was already playing CNY songs and i was having steamboat at home lol.

Bought moscato , beer and cutesy kitchen wares from Daiso because we only have 2 sets at home.

Whether is it Korean bbq or steamboat..i need to have at least 6 packs of Enoki mushrooms and 2 packets of crabsticks.

DSC02610A DSC02608A

I made my own chicken stock with corn.

Bought the steamboat pot and induction cooker at the last minute from Giant for  $40..hehe cos they were having discount and i can use it for Army stews, any other stews or Ddokbokki ( with ra-myeon ) soon ! Maybe cooking army stew this coming week. Let’s see.

DSC02605A

The table was “separated into 2 sides” – 1 side are all the meats ( Korean style ) and the other side are all the yong tau foo ( Chinese style ) which is for me and oppa’s baseball teammate’s gf who is a Malaysian.

DSC02604A

That was how we spent our Christmas at home . After that , we had drinks at the balcony which had a beautiful sea view and keppel port view.

Whereas for NYE , we had a quite and quality time at home. Because it was our 2nd anniversary ( the day we met ). We watched fireworks from our balcony.

DSC02666A

After which on 02 Jan , Vivi and I brought the oppas to East Coast for their first prawning and BBQ. Can’t compare our prawning to the prawning in Korea which is more natural. But at least we were having fun and yummy prawns because we caught many. We even bought pork belly , beef , Kimchi, Korean seaweeds and hehe of cos Enoki mushrooms to bbq. Paired with my sambal belachan which all of them were addicted to.

DSC02683 DSC02682 DSC02681 DSC02680

I really had a good rest for the past 2 long weekends and did alot of cooking too. When i had appointments , i will cook and prepare Korean “bento” which is known as Do-Si-Rak for Oppa and he just heat up during meal time. It includes rice / porridge garnished with seaweed shreds , 1 meat / korean style omelette , 2 side dishes ( ban-chan ). Very easy , just need 30 minutes to prepare.

I had a good time and yummy Korean food with my gf at Tanjong Pagar – Tomdamgol. I am getting the ban-chan (side dishes) recipe from his mother and hopefully i can start making them as soon as i get all the ingredients i need. Not easy to find certain ingredients and sauces.

O-muk Tang

(usually known as O-deng but hmmm oppa is quite particular..i can’t use jap names for Korean dishes. O-deng is actually japanese. In Korean , it is known as O-muk which means fish cake). Busan is well known for its fish cakes , so if you are going to Busan , this is something you must try. You can find alot of such street stalls in Nampo-dong selling them at $1 per stick ( KRW 1000 ).

CNY is coming and it was year end which is the only time i shop because it is SALES everywhere for past season designs and at the same time you can see new 2016 designs.

After which i will go on a hiatus on shopping till November again lol.

Korean websites are having sales too. Christmas and Lunar New Year sales so it is a good time to shop for coats which i will need since i will be traveling to Korea twice a year now and maybe 3 times after the wedding lol.

One shop i will go to without fail everytime i go to Korea is the MLB shop. They sell alot of cool baseball caps and jackets.

Whenever i watch Korean variety shows , i will look out for the caps the hosts and guests are wearing. Especially for Running man and Infinity Challenge because the hosts are always in new and latest designs. Not only their caps but i do look out for their shoes and jackets. Because the ones they wear are always soooo nice. Quite lucky i managed to get the one G-dragon was seen wearing when i went to Korea in Oct. Alot of people wanted me to sell to them and some even offered a higher price (all because G-dragon was seen wearing same design during a performance ).

Screen Shot 2016-01-03 at 11.33.06 PM

I don’t have a black cap. So i decided to get this one. I had this in White with silver Sox logo and Navy with white NY logo. So this is my first LA black one with gold outlined logo. MLB is having discount. So haha i just have to get it.

Usually i wear caps when im out or when im wearing simple spag tops with denim shorts. It adds abit of chic-ness to the entire outfit. And also on days when im lazy to put on any make up , i will just wear a cap.

Screen Shot 2016-01-03 at 11.34.37 PM

I was thinking to get the leather one or not but my head quiet small so snapbacks may not really suit me.

This looks like the one from Chrome hearts. If only they have it in camouflage prints instead of black. It will be nice too.

CNY is coming and do look out for AE’s CNY collection coming this weekend !

Here’s a sneak peek of an upcoming lace dress. Look out for discounts too !

Lace Bodycon dress (Navy)11

I just went to have my eyelash extensions done. Quite a number of people asked how i go about removing my eye make up and yet taking good care of the lash extensions ? Removing make up when you have lash extensions can be quite challenging but i managed to find a quick and cheap way.

I bought this Etude House eye make up pencil remover. It doesn”t really remove make up totally but kind of helps to remove make up smudges. But i used it to remove my eye make up (1st step) before i use oil-to-foam cleanser (2nd step) to remove the remaining. This pencil helps to “dissolve” your eyemake up thus making it easier for your 2nd step make up remover to remove it totally. In this way , there is no need to soak your q-tip cotton buds into make up remover solutions and slowly trying to “rub” it off.

My method works pretty find for me and it also helps to “dissolve” waterproof make up and making eye make up remover easier. It is not expensive and about 7,800 KRW at Etude house. Im not sure if the stores in Singapore are selling it or not but you should give it a try.

This month is a busy but fulfilling month for me. Down with food poisoning last 1 week and i couldnt eat or sleep well.

Next few months going to be bit busy and i can’t wait for the Xmas holidays because i can finally sit down and do a proper research for our wedding plans which will happen next year Sept / Oct in Busan. And im already looking for coats for next year. This year, i didn’t bring thick enough and ended up having food poisoning and a bad cold. Feeling damn paiseh..because first time meeting his mum but i ended up in hospital and she has to take care of me.

Anyways , should i go for a hanbok wedding dress or a traditional hanbok ?
I prefer it to be pastel colour though. Hehe.

Saw a couple of coats for spring on a korean site and tempted to get them though. They are having Xmas SALES ! Thinking should i ship them to SG or to our place in Busan.

The cutting is so nice. Only KRW 40,000. I bought coats from this shop previously and they keep me so warm during late winter and spring. Very light weight too.

Screen Shot 2015-12-18 at 10.44.57 AM

Like this purple colour. Quite unique and since im always in black. It should brighten my outfit. Also i like furry coats. Very nice and soft to touch !

Screen Shot 2015-12-18 at 10.50.19 AM

If only SG has 4 seasons. I love dressing up during spring/autumn where the weather is not too cold and not too hot. Just nice for my lace boots , coats and stockings etc.

I haven’t been getting in touch with the latest Korean dramas or variety shows due to work for the past 1 month. But im still having my weekly Korean classes and surprisingly my Korean speaking improves quite alot and i am able to have fluent conversations with his mother on the phone and even understanding abit of the Busan dialect.

Im hooked to the Reply drama series.

I have watched Reply 1994 , Repy 1997 and now Korea is airing the Reply 1988. I started watching the first drama series in 2013.

Damn funny and interesting drama. You can hear many forms of Korean dialects – Standard Seoul Dialect , Busan Dialect , Jeolla-d- Dialect, Chungcheong-do Dialect or Gangwon-do Dialect. Also , you can get to learn alot about traditional Korean cultures. It helps me to understand the era that oppa’s mother and him grew up. You will also get to learn their family house rules / habits , manners etc. I also learnt my Busan dialect from these 3 series. Though i can understand , i can’t really speak the dialect.

If you have watched the Taiwanese drama Our Times , it is something similar but this is drama form.

Reply 1997 featured Eunji from Apink and some other rapper idols.

Very hilarious drama. Even more hilarious if you understand Korean or even the dialects.

Go watch Reply 1988 and the other series also. You will get hooked. If you have a Korean bf/gf/spouse , watch it with them. It will be good for bonding and also to learn more about his culture , family habits etc.

I think i had too much Korean bbq or the pork was not well cooked. I was down with food poisoning for a few days and the feeling was really terrible.

Last week , we went to Robert Oppa’s house for Korean bbq.

Went with SY oppa and RJ oppa to K&J Butchery at Bukit Timah to buy pork belly and pork collar.

This butchery carries alot of Korean food , meats , sauces , sojus etc. A typical Korean mart for you to buy Korean ingredients for cooking. The vegs and all are also from Korea.

It is Christmas soon. And lately i have been working outside at starbucks sipping my cup of $4.60 Earl Grey tea with some new found friends using the app Lunch Kaki.

Here’s a picture taken while having coffee with my lunch kaki.

Lunch Kaki was an app started by a dear friend of mine. He quit his job as a stock broker to start out a networking app on his own. Alot of hardwork and planning were put into this app and though in just less than 1 year , the app has alot of users and i see more new people joining this app. Even my Korean teacher also joined this app. As a humble man , he will meet his users to ask for feedbacks to improve the app. This app helps to improve my social circle and i met people from all walks of life. For people like me who moved around , having meals alone can be quite sian at times. Lol i will always joke with my lunch kaki that i need someone to look after my belongings while i go get my food which is the reason why i used. Haha just joking lah. Need to break the ice what if not the meal will be very quiet and awkward.

My lunch kakis and i had meals ,talked about what we do , our trades and for some we eventually became friends and met often for meals. Recently, i met with someone who worked in the petrochemical industry and he taught me alot about dealing with people and differentiating personalities. Not only did i met someone and made a friend but we learnt from each other.

You can read more about the app HERE.

Support local app , join Lunch kaki and make a new friend !

** Psst..i just had new eyelash extensions done and also a tummy fat “destroying” session at Aeon Aesthetics and Medical Center. Sounds scary but actually it is not. Blogging soon tomorrow on these 2 !!
