My life goals #sgahjumma

#SGAHJUMMA talks about her life and goals.

I was on MC for a week last week due to high fever + sore throat + bad flu. Drowsy medication made me “bedridden” for few days. Sleeping and waking up to nibble abit of bread , drink water , go to the toilet and back to sleep again. I think i slept too much because of the medication and my body was aching (lie on bed too long) but i was too lazy to even walk 5 steps to the living room. So i laid on the bed and look at the ceiling. It was the 4th day into 2017 and i was thinking about my 2016. It was already over…if anything did not go well , i just have to make sure i don’t make the mistake again in 2017. Reflecting is good but don’t dwell too much on it.

2016 >> Work was good..i achieved a certain milestone in my career..i got married…i made alot of new friends through my work..my health (gastric and colorectal) wasn’t that good ( i have to go for a test every few weeks and on antibiotics )…went for a scan and test at gynae and im healthy and fine (ovaries and uterus are healthy and looking good)…i moved out with live with my hubby…more responsibilities (financially and personally)..etc etc. Everything went smooth except for health part. So i try to cook more at home, eat more fruits and eat less outside food ( alot of msg and salt ! ).

On the last day of New Year, our team had a small activity. We were asked what are our goals or dreams we want to achieve in 2017 ? And we were to cut out from magazines and paste them on a faux instagram A4 size print out.

Here is a private sharing of my goals and dreams. Instead of just planning for 2017 , i prefer to look further and beyond 2017 instead. Nothing material..but more on well-being.

Let’s start from top left..

I couldn’t find picture of a house or flat in the magazine. So i cut one of a hotel room from the travel page. Lol. Yes..i want to own my own home..a place my hubs and i can call our own.

Pictures of building and landmark ( also taken from the travel pages ) >> I want to bring my family to travel together with my hubs. The last time i travelled with my family was 20 years ago and it was to China. Better bring my parents to go overseas before they grow older and have problem with mobility.

At the bottom right is a bowl of salad. Haha i want to eat healthy and be healthy. My diet consists of Spicy and bbq Korean food for the past 3 years and now im trying to learn how to cook Chinese food. Those abit “qing dan” ones like melon soups , garlic kai lan , steam eggs etc etc. I find cooking Chinese food much harder than Korean food.

And then at the bottom left , there is the watch. I want to spend more quality time with my hubs and also i want to own a watch…i didn’t really have a watch before and i wanted my own. ( Saw a $2.8K Omega watch and it looks so dainty…but the housewifey and auntie-ish me think about what other thing can i do and buy with $2.8k….then the thoughts disappear liao lol.) Save that money instead and look forward to quality time with hubby.

Then you have the super big picture of a cute baby girl cut out. Yes, i want to have my own healthy kid. Reason why the pic of a baby is in the centre is because i want to do all the rest with my kid infuture.

20170109_174715-a

What does the “This is your time” and “Different” wordings mean leh ?

2017 is my time to start to take baby steps to these goals. And lastly to be a different financial advisor to my clients and to provide different and more innovative financial and insurance protection solutions to my clients.

And also in my personal life , to create more different beautiful memories with my hubby.

2017 will be different from 2016. It is my time to make it better.

Here is a question i ask all my clients on our first meeting ” Do you have a goal and what are your dreams ? ” . It need not be something material or about work. A client of mine told me she want to be more patient towards her husband this year…so they have less arguments. This is a goal also.

Incase you do not have a goal or got lost somehow this year…ask yourself what do you want to do to make it better and what must you improve?

Jiayou everyone !

#SGAHJUMMA Time  !

Throwback to last Christmas (2016). We had a Xmas party with the KBS (Korean Boyfriend & Spouse ) group at the top floor function room of The Sail Marina Bay’s condo. It was an awesome party with the kids ! The wives/fiancees were at one table chatting away , taking care and playing with the kids and had our own gift exchange. Whereas at the other table were the husbands/fiances rounding up for beer and chats. The kids were running around non-stop and i guessed they had a good sleep that night.

On Xmas eve, we went to Ah Ma’s house for Xmas party and on Xmas day, hubs and i just nua at home.

We also had our “Red and White” Christmas with Korean Ddokbokki (rice cakes) and instead of turkey , we had Jjimddak (Soy chicken).

How to cook Korean Spicy Rice Cake (Ddokbokki) ?

1) Boil 4-5 cups of water with kelps and anchovies ( to make the stock ). After the water boiled , take the kelps and anchovies out and throw them away.

2) In a bowl , add 5 table spoons of Korean Chilli Paste , 1.5 table spoon of sugar , 1 table spoon of Korean chilli flakes. Mix them together in the bowl.

3) Put in the Korean rice cake slices and Korean fish cakes (Odeng or Or-Muk) , chopped spring onions (in 2 inches long) and 2 peeled hard boil eggs into the boiling water.

**Hubby asked for this dish last minute and i couldn’t find Korean fish cakes at the nearest supermarket , so i replaced it with our chinese fish cakes and tau kee lol. I added in the left over zucchini in the fridge and cabbage as you can see in the picture. The traditional style is to add spring onions, fish cakes and eggs only.

4) Add in the sauce from 2) into the boiling water and mix well.

5) Let it boil for 15-20 minutes. Once the sauce becomes sticky , it is about time to be served.

Yes it is that easy. If you want , you can add in instant noodles and let it boil inside and it will be come a dish called Ra-Bokki (Ramyeon + Ddokbokki).

How to cook JjimDdak ?

1) Making the sauce. Mix 4.5 table spoons of soya sauce , 1.5 table spoon of sesame oil , 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper , 3 table spoon of sugar and 1 table spoon of minced garlic in a bowl.

3) Sliced some ginger . oil the frying pan and fry the sliced ginger.

4) Wash and dry the chicken parts before putting it into the frying pan to fry with the ginger slices. Once the skin of the chicken turned abit and slightly golden , add in water. Water should cover the chicken parts in the pot.

Add in sliced onions , potato and carrot chunks

5) Add in the sauce from step 1) and stir.

6) Let it boil and add 1 more table spoon of soya sauce and sprinkle black pepper. Add 1 tea spoon of salt.

7) Let it boil for about 20 minutes before serving.

Sprinkle chopped green onions for garnishing and ready to serve.

Some of my friends asked why the colour of my Jjimddak is so nice and dark but theirs are not ? Because i add in 1.5 tea spoon of the chinese dark soya sauce for colouring. Also , i didnt add dried chilli inside this time because i was having sore throat and cannot eat spicy food. If you want , you can also add in Korean potato starch noodle. Soak them in water and add them in at step 5.

Super easy to cook if you have the sauces.

#Smartlady #SGAhjumma #KBS

The latest Kdrama made me laugh and teared. Not sure if you have watched Legend of the Blue Sea but Lee Minho is sooo suave in this drama. Jun Ji-hyun still look the same as she was in My Sassy Girl back in 2000.

legend_of_the_blue_sea_poster the-legend-of-the-blue-sea-is-a-2016-south-korean-television-series-starring-jun-ji-hyun-and-lee-min-ho

This OST is one of my favourite so far after the DOTS drama.

2016 was an eventful year.
Firstly we have Song Joong Ki to give a romantic start and Park Bo Gum to spice up the summer and now Lee Min Ho to end the year with a bang. Wahh ! Drama year 2016. This year is one with the few of the best dramas.

Met up with the KBS girls 2 weeks ago . #KBS stands for Korean Boyfriends and Spouses. It is made up of a group of Singaporean wives with Korean husbands/fiances. The group is slowly expanding and we are having our first Xmas party in 3 weeks’ time. Every gathering is full of exciting and interesting topics. Im so glad to learn from the girls and also to share from my part. Glad to know that we are always giving each other support whether in SG or KR.

1479307252869

1.5 months after my wedding in Korean liao but there are alot of people asking me how is my married life. And any difference ?

Well , i will say it just got busier and also more responsibility. Being a working wife is not easy and i really 佩服 those who did it for many years. Holding 2 positions both outside and at home is not an easy task.

My day start quite early. 730am wake up to prepare breakfast and shower to prep for work , keep the laundry and set the washing machine timer for the next batch of laundry. Back at home in the evening ( if i have no evening appt ) to cook , wash up , mop and vacuum the floor. I think the whole thing ended about 930pm before i can take a break. Then i turn in at 12am after finishing up some work. Saturday morning was spent making brunch before i go for my Korean class and back home to cook dinner or go for appt. On Sunday , it is “toilet washing” day and another round of mass vacuum and mopping and grocery shopping.

So that sums up what i do at home when i don’t have any appointments , prospecting or at roadshows and on weekends.

Last week , i cooked Japchae for my hubby’s softball team’s bbq night. Took me 3 hours to prep and cook because our wok is too small so i have to do in batches. Woke up at 6am to prepare it before i go for appointment with my client and then to Korean class at 1pm. Then back home again in the afternoon to recook again to heat up. To cook a large tray is alot of work esp for Japchae. Easy to cook but alot of work to do. Alot of cutting , alot of frying and mixing.

Click HERE for the Jap Chae receipe i shared back in August.

 20161126_173826

I also made some kimchi. This kimchi was fermented for 3 weeks.

20161126_174108

Im glad it tasted good because hubby secretly “kope” a bowl of Jap chae and kimchi. He knows i will nag at him if i find him eating away after i cooked. No wonder keeps getting lesser and lesser and i have to cook more again.

And also , i received this question alot ” Do you control the finances in the family ? Did Ryunjae give you ALL his salary ?”.

Well , many asked me this question was because it is a Korean culture where the husband gives all his salary to his wife. The wife is the one who manages the finance in the family. And she will give her husband some allowance (either monthly/weekly/daily). Kinda opposite from the traditional chinese culture and modern culture these days.

Firstly , im not a Korean so my thinking is abit different. Thus we tweak it abit. I think that he is old enough and a mature man who can handle his own finances. Plus he is not someone who spends on alcohol , branded stuff , shopping or even gadgets. To be honest , he spends most of his time at home to watch baseball matches. So i guess one thing that cost $$ every month is probably mobile data. Because he is forever using his phone to watch baseball matches/news/political news/webtoons.

But also being his financial adviser , i get him to open 2 accounts. 1 for saving and 1 for expenses. So every month first day , he will do a standing instruction to transfer a fix amount into the expenses account. That account pay for his food , transport and leisure activities. Whereas premiums for the insurances and saving plans which he signed with me and also rental of our place will be deducted from his saving account instead. Our grocery shopping also come from that expenses account.

He trusted me and he knows im a saver and i am better at investing and saving money to help him to manage his wealth. He gave me his ATM card since i manage the finances and he just have his credit card for emergency use.

This method is very useful. The saving rate increases too. Of cos there are some other tips i shared with him and my clients too.

Talking about saving money , it is time for #Smartlady topic.

Most of my clients are families, ladies or young couples or newly weds. And most of the ladies have problem with savings because they shop alot online. Online shopping can be very sinful and addictive. Because i was a victim also. So now i limit myself as in not how much i can cart out each time but when can i shop.

I shop only in June and year end Nov/Dec. Reason is because there will be alot of sales everywhere and somehow the nicest designs are out during summer or spring which is more suitable for SG’s weather. I shop more in Taobao recently. Most of my buys are less than SGD30 except for the coats which cost about SGD50. And i only buy when i need something and i mean i really need it.  I buy things but i don’t spend money anyhow.

Yup , so i actually went on a “shopping drought” from Jan to May and June to October. The only thing i bought was skincare in between because i CANNOT live without my daily skincare routine. But i don’t anyhow buy lah. I make sure im left with half a month supply before i buy a new bottle. And also before i buy , i will ask for samples to test out and see if is suitable for my skin before i buy the full product.

I have the habit of putting everything into cart but never cart out. Because some of the items in the cart i know that i added them in on impulse lol..so i wont check out. Only when i need an item ( eg my bag tore recently ) so i bo bian have to buy one.

A client of mine has problem saving because she spend about $2k a month on clothes online so she decided to do up a saving plan with me. It is not easy to ask someone to “quit” one thing totally but i encouraged her to slowly cut down bit by bit. It worked. She see her savings increases and it gave her the courage to make more effort to save more besides saving in a saving plan. It is all about discipline. Save it at somewhere you don’t see it. Out of sight , out of mind and you will not think of spending.

If you want to shop and buy clothes without spending alot of moolah,  you can try Taobao.  I got some work wear for 2017. Well , i have only 5-7 sets of work clothes and have been wearing same thing for the past 8 months. Some of them started furring because i wear them at least twice a week. It is always that same ribbed top with culottes/skirts or the simple black dress. Time for a change lol. You know you need it when your male client asked why you always wear same clothes to meet him. Just kidding lol. But he really did said that.

Here are some work clothes which i got at less than RMB35 (SGD7) and the quality was really a surprise.

The skirt cost only RMB29 which is approx SGD 6.

1054364465

Back pic of pencil skirt at RMB 29 (SGD 6)

1212506391

Bag to store my documents/files/ipad for work – RMB 33 (SGD 6.50)

20161202_145320

Stripe skirt (got the black and white one) for RMB 25 (SGD 5).

2143421671

Here’s what i got at less than RMB 99 (SGD 20)

RMB 99 (SGD 20)

824121449

RMB 89 (SGD 18). Getting this for a wedding dinner.

2094528203

Got the silver pair at RMB 88 (SGD 18). Because i have to walk alot during roadshows or at work , my feet sweat alot and i have to change my shoes every 3 months. So i won’t really spend alot on shoes. Probably a $20-$30 pair which can last me for 3 months at least.

1692407577

Got this work dress at RMB 99 (SGD 20). Saw some shops in FEP selling this at $229 and heng ah i found this on Taobao when i was swiping taobao app before i sleep.

1579054657

Travelling to Korea in winter and need a winter coat. So i got this at RMB 198 (SGD 40) .

Seriously , this coat is really damn thick. Inside has quilted paddings and really good quality. This shop sell coats that are supplied to Korea.

2014219152

I am very taken back by the quality of the Taobao stuff i got. I got all the above for SGD 145 only and shipping was RMB 105 (SGD 20 partly because of the heavy coat and shoe box). So add up to $165. Shipping per item is an average of SGD $2.00 only. These stuff will last me for next 1 year.

Lol…i think im quite kiam..i wont cart out anything more than RMB 200 (SGD 40)  for coats and RMB 100 (SGD 20) for dresses/skirts/tops.

Go for SALES , Go for CHEAPER alternatives and CONTROL your spending.

Sometimes i will ask my clients to go home and open their wardrobe, ask them what are they going to do to those that they don’t intend to wear anymore and how many times have they worn per piece in their wardrobe ? How many pieces were bought and ended up sitting there in the wardrobe doing nothing ? How many pieces of clothes (don’t count number of bags of clothes but count the number of pieces !) did they donate off to salvation army or throw away during CNY spring cleaning ?

You can buy clothes that you like. But THINK and CONTROL before you buy. Do you really need it ? Is it on impulse ? How long will you wear ? Save for bigger things in life. Save for your future.

What is your dream ? Do you have one ?

I have mine and let me share with you.

My hubby and i are saving for our house. We are waiting for his PR application and we want to have a house of our own. We want to have kids and give them good education and life. That is why we are both working really hard at work and giving our best. He works hard for his company and i work hard , take care and protect all my clients. I protect my clients as in not “protective” adviser who scared other people poach my clients. I believe my sincerity is one thing that won them over and i will help them in anything even anything outside the finance scope which is why my clients trusted me and we are like friends. I treat them as friends and not just clients. And we all do our best for our friends.

Do you have a dream or a goal ? Save and work hards towards your goal or dream and im sure you will achieve it !

Busan : My Husband

Here’s what i was busy with for the past 1 month.

Our ROM in SG.

11 Sep 2016.

We are now husband and wife.

In October , we will be registering our marriage in Busan, South Korea and hold our wedding there.

08 Oct 2016 is the day in Korea.

Haha we have 2 wedding dates so we are using the SG date for our anniversary date. Easier to remember also..911.

dpraw665dsc_9659

The ROM in SG is a cozy and small 80 pax ceremony where we only invite our families and closest friends. The buffet banquet will be in Korea instead.

Pardon for the lack of blog updates. Actually i have written a blog post on #Smartlady and #Kbeauty but the blur me saved it as “private” instead of “public”. So this blog post gonna be a loonnng one !

So my bro-in-law came to SG last week. I think he is quite a popular guy haha cos he is very gentle giant , knows how to cook and is capable eligible bachelor..such that my relatives and friends want to match make him. He is still SINGLE.

His arrival also means my #Kbeauty arrival which i ordered online and sent it to our place in Busan.

Here are some new #Kbeauty i bought and i really like them. There are a few more but won’t be reviewing it now because i have not used them yet or not long enough yet.

Atopalm Real Barrier Intense Moisture Cream.

Price KRW 25,600

It is a moisturiser cream and not very “scenty” like other perfumed moisturiser.

My skin feels dry lately because of  late nights and also the air con in office is sooo cold and dry that makes my skin feels so dry and tight. So i opted for something more rich. I really like it because is moisturising and compliments with my base make up. My BB cushion sets very well on it. You know , some creams are too rich and the texture is so thick that when you apply your BB cushion , it sort of mixed in and makes the whole look and feel very gluey and gross.

Is it worth buying ? Yes i think it is . It works on my skin type and i hardly experience dry skin these days. It is not very oily also. It is quite a popular brand among the ladies there and my housemate is using this  too ! It is in my stock up list !

If you have oily skin and wants to try this brand , you can try the gel version.

COC Brush Set

I was tempted by the pink colour so i carted out. Also i need brushes. My 3CE brushes already so cui. Used them for 4 years already so it is time to change. This set of brushes are very soft and nice. The powder and make up glides on easily during application.

Also , the packaging is compact and travel friendly. Easy to keep in your handbag or luggage.  So compact that i can bring the entire set out.

When you open the casing , the whole case fans out like that with the brushes in their place. So all are neat and tidy. You do not need to dig out from your pouches and arrange them one by one.

dsc03380a dsc03382a

Comes with mirror that open up by itself also.

dsc03383a

When you close it. Just slot the brushes back into their slots and close the casing..Tadahh.

dsc03386a

This is a super good buy i tell you. There is a bigger version but i thought i don’t need soo many brushes. So i got this set instead. It was also featured in Korea beauty show – Get It Beauty.

Price KRW 19,800

Comes with 9 brushes – Blusher brush , foundation brush , 2x eye shadow brush , eyebrow brush , concealer brush , eye liner brush , eyelash comb brush, sponge tip.

This set is super worth it and the brush are so soft and compact to keep in the bag or travel.

CNP Laboratory Milk Toning Peel

My MIL bought me 3 sets of CNP Milk Toning Peel. Yes..im a fan of aesthetic brand CNP now. They also have aesthetic clinics in Korea. Cheaper to have aesthetics done in KR.

This peel is SUPER GOOD ! If there are more than 5 stars , i will rate it more than 5.

dsc03387a

As you can see, there is one “lobang” already. because i already used it once.

1 set comes with 4 toning peel and 4 toning masks. My mil bought for me 3 sets and it came with a brush.

You are supposed to use it once a week. So , 1 set = 1 month.

I was told that it is better to use it for 12 weeks ( which is 3 months ) so she got for me 3 sets.

dsc03389a

This is the brush you use to apply the toning peel and its texture is similar to that of a serum.

dsc03394a

It looks complicated with so many things but actually the whole process took 16 minutes in total only.

Open the Milk Toning Peel and use the brush to apply the “serum” onto your entire face ( avoiding eyes area ). You will feel abit of tingling sensation. I felt it and it felt like someone using a small needle to poke my skin. I felt it on my cheeks and forehead only. Guess that’s where most of my dead skins are ..maybe ?  It is not painful but just felt some tingling sensation on some parts of the face. Leave it on for 1min or 1.5 minutes before you wash it off with warm water.

After which , pat dry your face with towel and put on the toning mask for 15 minutes. The mask actually helps to soothe the skin after the peel.  The effect is really  THUMBS UP ! Cannot praise it even more. My skin felt so soft and radiant. I didn’t even wear make up the next day after i used it the night before. Told my colleague that i didn’t put any make up to work today and they were surprised. Because my skin looks radiant and dewy.

I just used it on my husband (Gosh..not used to call him hubby or Yeobo (Korean version) ). He is very tanned because he plays baseball every week ( 2 times a week ) and have uneven skin tone. This peel evens out his skin tone and his skin suddenly looks so clean. This is my favourite skin peel so far and i really like it. Will definitely stock up more.

Price KRW 28,500 per set ( 4 times for a month use ).

Skin Factory Lip Tattoo

Also i finally tried the lip tattoo. Very easy steps.

Just apply on dry lips , wait for it to dry and peel off.

To be honest , it doesn’t really work well on me. The colour isn’t that obvious. And if you really want to buy and try , buy the one that is bright red in colour. I got 2 colours ( Coral and Red ). The coral one is totally waste of $$ because it doesn’t have any effect. The red one is still ok. Can see that my lips at least have “some colour”.
It is definitely not like what was shown in the picture below. My friend tried it and it doesn’t work on her as well.

I don’t think this is good nor does it worth the $ . It doesn’t work.

Screenshot_20160804-125157

Same goes to the brow tattoo. Very messy.

Screenshot_20160804-102518

Got some more #Kbeauty products but i have yet to open and use them yet. LOL. Will review more i used them.
Just got 2 BBIA cream eye shadown pencils. Can’t wait to use them. Colours look so gorgeous !

#SGAHJUMMA time !

This week , im going to share recipe to cook Korean Soya Sauce Fried Chicken.

Korean Fried Chicken + Beer = Chi-Mac !

Yes , you do not need to queue and spend $$ at Korean Fried Chicken joints. You can do it at home and it is healthier. Good for parties and for kids too because it is not spicy.

My hubby loves it and always ask for more. I cooked it 2 weeks ago. He loves it so much and i have cooked like 3 times since ? lol

dsc03374a

Ingredients

Chicken wings and drumlets.

1 bowl of corn flour.

Sauce ingredients

5 table spoons of  Korean Soya Sauce

1 table spoon of brown sugar

3 table spoon of white sugar

1 table spoon of sesame oil

1 tea spoon of black pepper

3 table spoons of honey

1 table spoon of Korean Chilli Powder

4 Table spoons of chopped spring onion

1 Table spoon of minced garlic

How to cook ?

Wash and dry the chicken parts. I use fresh chicken instead of frozen ones. It will taste better because you need to fry it twice.

After drying the chicken , coat them with corn flour.

I used air fryer to air fry the corn flour coated chicken parts. You can use a wok of oil to fry if you don’t have an air fryer.

Air fry for about 25 minutes until it is crispy brown.

After air frying all the chicken,  leave them aside on a plate.

dsc03366a

Mix all the sauce ingredients in a bowl and leave it aside.

dsc03365a

Heat up a pan/wok with few spoons of olive oil. Once the pan is heated up , pour the bowl of sauce into the frying pan until it sizzles.  Switch from medium to low heat.

dsc03367z

Throw in the fried chicken in mix it with the sauce.

dsc03368a

dsc03369a

Switch off the heat and serve ! Sprinkle some spring onions and sesame seeds to garnish.

Now, here’s your home cooked Korean Soya Sauce Fried Chicken.

Super yummy ! Oppa ate all 22 pieces lol. I only had 4 ????

dsc03374a

Also, i just made some Ban Chan ( Korean side dishes ). Will share recipe soon !

This post was in draft for almost 2 weeks. There are some personal things i want to share after much procrastination.

This post gonna be longggg since it was in draft for 2 weeks !

Something light-hearted to start first…

#KBS

Last week , i finally met up with almost everyone in the #KBS group which i created almost a month ago. KBS stands for Korean Boyfriends and Spouses. The group is made up of Singapore ladies with Korean fiances and spouses.

We had tze char at Melben and after that , we all go to Koryo mart to do our Korean grocery shopping. It was really nice to meet everyone and we shared alot of our experiences. Good to have support in Sg and in Korea. Alot of information we can share and help each other like applying for long term passes in Korea, registering marriage or child’s birth in Korea and SG etc.

We are planning for another pot luck gathering soon and this time with our other Korean halves. If you have a Korean spouse or getting married soon (engaged already) and want to join this support group , you can send me an email at peonykissblog@gmail.com . Glad to hear that everyone is happy to have this support group and people who are in the same situation and marriages.

#SGahjumma

Hehe i tried new dishes over the weekend. This is the first time i made Korean Japchae and Spicy Pork Ribs (Yang Nyeom Galbi). I was quite surprised by my own cooking this time round. So delicious and i cannot believe i cooked it too.

Alot of work for Japchae. Quite tiring to cook this. Alot of plates to wash too.

Here’s how you can cook Japchae :

Ingredients :

Korean thin potato noodles , shitake mushrooms , black fungus, carrots, yellow/red capsicum, onions, eggs, spinach, salt, sesame oil, black pepper, soya sauce.

1) Soak and wash mushrooms and black fungus in water. Slice them into thin pieces and squeeze out the water . Fry in pan with olive oil , add pinch of salt and black pepper.
Put into a big bowl and leave it aside.

2) Cut and sliced carrots and capsicums into thin strips. Fry in pan with olive oil and add pinch of salt. Put all into the big bowl together with mushrooms and fungus. Leave it aside.

3) Crack and beat 3 eggs. Fry it into a large round omelette. Cut into thin strips and put in a separate bowl
Do not mix in with 1) and 2) ingredients. Leave it aside.

4) Boil spinach for a minute. Take out and squeeze all water out. Slice into 3 or 5 cm sizes. Put in a small bowl and season with sesame oil and soya sauce. Leave it aside for awhile.

5) Cut onions into thin slices and fry with olive oil in a pan. Add a pinch of salt. Once the onions become translucent, pour it into the big bowl with ingredients from 1) and 2).

6) Boil the Korean potato starch noodle in hot water and once cooked, take out and wash under cold water and drain away the water. Use scissors to cut the noodles cos they are very very long.

Put the noodles in a frying pan and fry with olive oil. Add 5 table spoons of Korean soya sauce and sesame oil. Add 2 tea spoons of black pepper. Fry and mix to change colour of noodle to brown. Add abit of water so frying will be easier. How much soya sauce and sesame oil to add depends on the noodle portion you are cooking.

After frying the noodles, put into the big bowl with ingredients 1) 2) 5). Wear plastic hand gloves and mix the ingredients with the noodles. Add in the seasoned spinach into the big bowl and mix them together. Add some more soya sauce and sesame oil and black pepper. Lastly add in the thinly sliced eggs and mix everything tog with hand. Add sesame seeds.

Ready to serve on plate and add the last drizzle of sesame seeds.

Now you know what i mean by alot of work and plates/bowls to wash for Japchae. Cut , fry , mix and you repeat for every single ingredient. The more ingredients you add , the more work to be done. I didn’t add in any thinly sliced pork belly or beef because i don’t want my Japchae to be too oily (oil from pork bellies). So you can choose to add in the meat or not it is up to you.

Super yummy.  Double work for me because Oppa said it is so nice and i cooked the other half packet of potato noodles. He ate the entire pack of noodles. haha 1 pack can serve about 4 pax.

Yang Nyeom Galbi (Korean Spicy Pork Ribs)

I cooked this too with the Japchae. Really multi tasking. One hand was mixing and the other hand was flipping the pork ribs in the pan.

How to cook Yang Nyeom Galbi (Korean Spicy Pork Ribs)

Ingredients : Prime Pork Ribs , Korean red pepper paste , Korean chilli powder , 1 green chilli , minced garlic , chopped onions , sesame oil , soya sauce , pepper , sugar (brown sugar/honey/white sugar …in my case i used brown sugar).

Well , you need a big round bowl to mix these sauces with the ribs. So get it ready !

  1. In the big bowl , add 4 table spoons of red pepper paste , 1 table spoon chilli powder , 2 table spoon of minced garlic , half onion chopped into minced pieces , 2 table spoon of soya sauce , 2 table spoon of brown sugar, 2 table spoon of sesame oil and 1 tea spoon of black pepper. Mix all these sauces together.

2) Wash the pork ribs and squeeze out the water. Then put into the big bowl of sauces and mixed the pork ribs with the sauces in the bowl. Just keep mixing until the pork ribs are all red. Wear a plastic hand glove and mix it with your hand. It is easier and can mix better this way and so that the prime ribs can be well seasoned. Leave it aside for 20-30 minutes before you start cooking it.

3) Add olive oil in a pork of frying pan or pot. Pour the entire bowl of well marinated pork ribs and the sauces from the bowl into the pot. Fry on high heat before switching to medium heat. Add abit of water and leave it to cook and stir and flip the ribs so that it will not get burnt on one side.

Once done , serve on a plate or the Korean earthen ware. I heat up the earthen pot first before transferring the well cooked pork ribs from the frying pan/pot into the earthen pot. The pot keeps the sauce and the meat hot and warm. The meat can be abit tough and hard if it gets cold.

If you don’t have the earthen ware , you can just serve on a plate.

Cut the green chilli into thin slices and garnish the ribs together with sesame seeds. Some people add the green chilli when they mix the sauces in step 1) but i don’t really like to eat green chilli so i didnt add in from step 1.

The pork ribs looks difficult to cook but actually it is the easiest compared to Japchae ! Just mix all the sauces together with the pork ribs and cook.

Korean soya sauce and Korean sesame oil are commonly used so if you are interested in cooking your own Korean dishes, these are the must haves in your kitchen. They are not that expensive. about $3.60 for big bottle of soya sauce and $3.90 for a small sesame oil. I bought a tin of $14.90 sesame oil  (in medium size tin packaging) since i cook often.

 #Kbeauty

Here are 2 of new additions into my daily skin care routine which was mentioned in the previous post. I realized i have not reviewed them yet.

It actually took me awhile before i decided to try this brand. I read reviews online and to be honest i don’t trust alot of  beauty reviews or i just read their reviews with a pinch of salt because most beauty reviews are paid to do so. And it is hard to determine a product is good or not just by trying it on the back of your hand only for the first time and once. I actually went to try the tester bottles many times before i decided to buy and try. And at most if it didn’t work , just use and apply on my neck lor. CNP products are not that cheap even though they can be found in drugstores like Olive and Young (Korea), Guardians and Watsons ( in SG ). But im glad these 2 products works for me and worth the buy for me.

CNP Invisible Peeling Booster

11896175_1632187350401725_3549398711193550858_n

It promises to remove dead skin cells and boost skin radiance/brightening within a week. It is to apply before toner. You don’t actually see “dead skin cells” coming off like using a peeling gel. So don’t expect to see “beads” or “rolled up” whitish stuff when you apply. Does it boost skin radiance ? The difference is not alot but i can see my skin is slightly more radiant after using it for a week.

I really like this alot. There is no need to rinse off after applying. This is the first thing i apply after my shower before i proceed with toner. It is very expensive in SG. But in Korea, Lotte mall is having 20% discount and this is only KRW 24,000 now.  It is about SGD49 if you were to buy in Guardian.

I also got the Propolis Energy Ampule. I usually apply this before my sheet masking. I alternate this with Hera hydration ampule.

PSS0407_1__76656.1405936521.500.750

I feel that CNP Laboratory is like Leaders Insolution brand. They are products from aesthetic doctors and dermatologists in Korea. I really like these products and so i actually carted out a peeling gel and the serum also from CNP from Lotte.com ! Can’t wait for my bro-in-law to bring them from Korea for me this Sept ! He is coming to SG yay ! I wonder where to bring him around and activities to do. He takes really good care of me and i want to be a good host when he comes too.

Will review the peeling gel and other serums once i started using them for at least 2 weeks and if it is good !

Gonna continue the #Smartlady draft . Some personal things and experiences to share and hope it helps girls out there. And new review on the lip tattoo i used.

Hello ladies ! Well , i receive couple of messages and emails to request for more blogging updates.

I realized that my blogging frequency kinda reduced by 50% ? Instead of 4 posts a month , it dropped to 2 posts a month. Well , kinda busy these 2 months. Plus my health was not really good in a point which is also something i want to share with everyone later. I will try to share at least 4 times a week here.

Its been 2 months since we moved into a rented apartment. Life was good. Felt like home though it was rented. Lol now i worry about moving to a new place if we were not to renew our rental here next year. Because there are so much to move and pack ! I really can’t wait to apply for his PR so that we can apply for housing here , settle down and start a family.

1 more month to our ROM in SG and 2 more months to our wedding in Busan. Friends and family members will be flying over and alot of accommodation arrangement to do. MIL sold off her hotel inn and franchised a BBQ restaurant. If she still have the inn it will be quite easy to house everyone because the location was very convenient. MIL’S apartment in Busan will only be ready in 2018. Next time my family members and friends can stay there if they travel to Busan.

So do i feel excited about our wedding ? ehhh to be honest , both of us don’t feel that yet.

Because we both felt like we were married already. After work , i will come home to do the laundry , cook if i have time and if it is not too late and i do grocery shopping every sunday.

Here’s what i prepared last sunday.

Korean Ginseng Chicken and Salad ( diced apples , lettuce , chia seeds , bavarian sausage and oriental salad sauce.

Took 1 hour to boil the ginseng chicken and while it is boiling , i will prepare the salad. So took about total of 1.5 hours to prepare.

1469964833815_mh1469964908973

Korean ginseng chicken is pretty easy to cook. Sounds and looks difficult but very easy.

All you need is…

  1. 1) 10 cloves of garlic ( do not minced it or chop it ! )

2) Ginseng and some herbs

3) Lots of red dates , i put about 18-20 small red dates.

5) Whole chicken (washed and with head and feet removed .

I trimmed off the fats and take away some skin ( not fully ).

6) 1 teaspoon of salt

7) 1 whole onion ( chopped into half )

Firstly , i boil a pot of water and add in some kelps. Let it boil for about 15 minutes.

In another pot , i lay the seasonings ( Onions , red dates , ginseng , herbs and garlics ) at the bottom of the pot and then i will put the chicken in nicely. This is so that one side of the chicken do not get burnt. This is also so that the seasoning will not all float to the top.

Add 1 teaspoon of salt.

Turn on medium heat for about 30 minutes to cook the chicken and after that i switched to low heat for next 30 minutes.

When i switched to low heat , i will transfer the cut the ginseng chicken into 4 parts and transfer the chicken and soup into the Korean stone pot. The stone pot helps to keep soups and stews hot because it retains heat. I prefer buying the matt ones.

Because my chicken was too big and i can’t squeeze into the largest stone pot that i had, so i cooked the ginseng chicken in a normal non stick pot and transfer it to stone pot.

It is pretty easy. Just throw everything into the pot and let it boil on medium and low heat and ready to serve.

So how about the dipping sauce ?

All you need is just salt + black pepper. Yes that’s right.

Saw the little dish that is between the salad and ginseng chicken ? That is the dipping sauce.

*
Salad was pretty easy.

I bought lettuce and cut them into bite sizes. Cut green apples and diced them.

Add chia seeds and sausage.

I bought Oriental Salad Sauce from a Koryo Mart in Telok Ayer street. The sauce is very nice and im going there to buy more bottles back !

Yumms

That was our Sunday’s dinner !

Well , i have invited some friends over for dinner and BBQ. I think the main focus was my skin care and make up collection in the room.

Here’s a “view” of my daily facial care routine.

Here’s what i keep in the toilet. Didnt include my cleanser in this photo though.

But below are what i used to remove make up and apply right after my shower.

From left to right :

After shower care :
1) Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Serum

2) CNP Laboratory Invisible Peeling Booster

Make up removers :

3) Biore Cleansing Water

4) Biore Jelly Remover

5) Maxclinic Oil to Foam Vit C Cleanser

DSC03350A

Well , i usually remove the make up with Jelly remover because it is very gentle and i do not need to tug with cotton pads. I use the cleansing water only if i tightline my eyes with eyeliner or remove stubborn mascara.

The oil to foam cleanser was mainly to remove the BB cushion creams. Because it changes to foam after lathering with water , it does not give that oily feel.

Because i triple cleanse my face , i will buy mild cleansers so that i wont dry out my skin.

This are my serums and creams which i kept them in basket.

DSC03351A

Sulwhasoo Essential Water , Hera Cell Essence , Leaders Vit C Capsule Serum , Bioderma Hydrabio Serum , Hera Waterin Gel Serum and CNP Propolis Energy Ampoule.

The Sulwhasoo set was a gift from Mil’s friend who works for Amore Pacific. I actually prefer the Hera ones which i used previously compared to Sulwhasoo. Well perhaps because im still trying to get used to Sulwhasoo right now.

I switch between Bioderma and Hera’s hydrating serum. Texture are the almost similar. Hydrating effect for Bioderma is slightly better but takes a longer time to absorb than Hera.

I like the Propolis Energy Ampoule from CNP. It is good and can see the brightening effect after few days. This is my 2nd bottle already. I switch between the CNP ampoule and Leaders Vit C serum depending on what kind of hydrogel or sheet mask im putting on that day.

CNP Laboratory is a Korean brand and available in SG’s Watsons and Guardians. I suggest you go to the bigger Watsons and Guardian outlets to buy because they have a bigger range. The small outlet ones have very limited products.

You can buy them from Olive and Young in Korea. But the bottles are very heavy.

DSC03352A

Here are my emulsions, moisturizers and overnight treatment/creams.

Overnight mask from Sulwhasoo , Anti aging treatment from HERA , Moisturizers from CNP Lab and Primera and Emulsion from Sulwhasoo. I don’t use 2 moisturizers and 2 overnight creams of cos. It will be too much on my face. My Primera moisturizer is finishing soon so im switching over to CNP after that. I use the anti aging treatment on weekends and the clarifying mask from Sulwhasoo on week days.

DSC03354A

Of cos , not to forget your eyes !

Waterin eye serum from Hera. I love this alot ! This is my 5th or 6th stick i think in 2 years. I use this day and night.

DSC03355A

So i guess on average i apply about 8 products each time in the day and 9 products each time at night. If i were to include my 3 steps cleansing , that will be 11 – 12 products ( excluding sheet masks ).

It really takes alot of time and discipline to do so !

If you were to ask me to review and if the products above are worth buying ?
Yes they are !
I have reviewed everything before except for the Bioderma Serum and CNP Lab products. Will do so next time round !

2 more months to our ROM in SG and 3 more months to our ROM in Korea. Time really flies. Been very busy lately and my meal timing were kinda screwed. Last week was a packed with full of meetings , meeting new people and also preparing for the big day ( final discussion for the ROM in SG ). Everything is sort of settled thanks for recommendations from friends. And also i am addicted to scrolling Taobao right now. Alot of wedding decors and ornaments that are so cheap and nice. Instead of renting , i can buy them at $5 , use them for my ROM and bring home to decorate my place. They even have the cutest guest book at $6.

And i just chanced upon another wedding song which i really like. Was thinking of using this for march-in song and the other song by Huk-Gak to be sung by my bro-in-law’s friend who is our live band.

This is my tentative  choice for march-in song .

My MUA was settled. Wendy from Lushlashh will be my make up artist and also having my lashes done at Lushlashh. I really like her work and patience. The lashes she did for me are always so natural. I always go for K-style lashes which was supposed to be “no-make-up-or-lash-extensions look” . There is a vast difference between Kstyle lashes and Jap style lashes. Japanese one are more vavavoom and glamourous looking. But it doesn’t suit me and i don’t like to look too over.

The lashes Wendy did for me are so natural that some people i spoke to asked if they are my real lashes or i had extensions done. They cannot see the difference when they look at me face to face. But from the side view , you can see that it is longer. Im not sure what kind curls i go for because i ask her to replicate the one i did in Korea. She has my details. So if you want the natural looking K-lashes , just tell her you read my blog and wanted the same set as mine. If you are worried that if it will look too natural as if you have nothing on and you think it is “waste of money” ? You don’t need to worry about it because you can see a difference before and after. Btw i also always go for one which make my eyes look like im wearing an eyeliner when i am not. Anyways , she has my history and data. You can tell her that you want the lashes that Peiling did. Lushlashh is located at level 2 of Arcade Shopping Centre at Raffles Place.

Here are some of the lash extensions i have done.

C360_2016-04-29-12-05-46-533 C360_2016-04-29-12-05-36-352 MYXJ_20160301115228_save

And as for my hair , Joanne at Hair Affairs Chevron House will dye for me . I went to her before my Pre-wedding shoot trip to get my hair dyed to a nice violet red colour. It looks sooo nice and my MIL also said it was a good choice of colour. My readers will get some discounts if you mention my name. Btw , i paid for these services and these are not adverts. If you read my blog long enough , i have stopped doing adverts for 2-3 years and all are based on my persona experiences and reviews. Anyway you have to call to book appointment. She starts work as early as 8am. I went at 8am before and the salon was filled with bankers and tai tais who wake up early to wash and curl their hair to prepare for work at 9am. I don’t think i will do that man. I would rather sleep more. She has been in the line for more than 30 years and her banker clients followed her for more than 20 years.

Here are some hair inspirations i have got. I am tempted to my dye my hair again before my trip to Korea for my wedding.

I don’t know to do RED…

edbfcaf3fb88883489c452e949730ded 3961fd9139264900a1e68f66e9d2485a 16a0c0ed925ece7b6a7a376368cd68de 9fd3811a780d875263da54a8ad50a4aa

or this colour…

20160703_150756

I wanted to do this kind of curls.

16a0c0ed925ece7b6a7a376368cd68de

But because at that time my hair was badly damaged and i really want to have healthier hair so that i can perm in October in Korea…plus my recent diving trip made my hair worst…soooo….

I went to find Joanne to cut all the bad split ends off and now i have shoulder length hair. Hair ends are healthier now and easier to manage. So now i just need to wait for it to grow, maintain my hair …then hopefully i can perm.

C360_2016-06-24-12-41-57-352_mr1466744637444

Done with #Kbeauty and now with #SGAHJUMMA

I cooked Carbonara Ramyeon on sat night. Oppa is away for biz trip in Europe and back only next week. I wanted to cook Andong Jjimddak but it will be too much for one person to eat. So , it is Carbonara Ramyeon for tonight.

DSC03338A

Korea is an instant food heaven. Alot of instant food and some are claimed to be healthy choice. Well …my bro-in-law never uses the seasoning packs. He used the Korean shrimp sauce, pepper flakes and soya sauce to make his own ramyeon seasoning. Healthier this way because msg in the seasoning packs are not really good for health. This is something i want to learn from him when he comes in Sept.

My kitchen cupboard with instant noodles. Something i don’t really like and only cook if i got no choice or too lazy to go out to buy food.

DSC03329A

Here is the recipe. To be honest , it is recommended to use SHIN Rammyeon. But i was too lazy to walk 10 mins out just to buy a packet of ramen so i used whatever is the closest to Shin Ramyeon that i had at home.

DSC03331A

1 pack of Hi-Lo low fat milk (200ml).

DSC03332A

Mozzarella Cheese.

DSC03330A

Boil 400ml of water at high heat. If you do not have a measuring cup , empty the milk from the carton into a cup and use the empty carton to fill with water to measure since the milk carton is 200ml.

Once the water boiled , add in the ramyeon and the seasoning packs for about 3 minutes.

Add the entire pack of 200ml of hi-lo milk. Let it boil for 2 minutes and add a handful of mozzarella cheese. How much cheese you want is up to you. I like cheese and like my noodles to be slightly sticky with cheese so i added ALOT. Stir.

DSC03335A

Once done , you can serve it in a bowl.

Easy and shiok ! I paired with seaweed chicken seaweed and Kimchi ! Oh and a cup of cold Yuzu drink.

DSC03340A

Hope you enjoyed it. Very simple. Just need 15 minutes and you get Carbonara Ramyeon.

Now that we are living on our own , which means alot of bills and groceries to do. For Oppa, he has been living on his own for years but for me this is the first time i moved out. I paid utilities and bills at my own home but now that i moved out , there are more to pay. Being a financial planner and a financial planner in our house , i am in charge of the utilities and expenses. I record and keep receipts and limit groceries shopping to $50 a week. I have been buying so many things from Korea websites and mart now that i find buying all the necessities in SG are so expensive. When i travel to Korea , i will buy everything there and bring over. Now that we need some things urgently and i went to the supermarkets to buy and got shock at the price. In Korea i can buy 3 good shampoos for $10 and here 1 good one for more than $10. My work schedules are pretty tight. I start my day early and ended my day late which means that i can’t go to local market in the day time and so i depended alot on 24hr supermarkets. You must be wondering why now then i realized that things are expensive in SG. Not that i now then realized , i realized it long ago but just that im not used to buying my daily necessities in SG yet except for food.

#SMARTLADY

Here was what i got from Gmarket.

Yes whatever number of sanitary pads here you see is just 10,900won which is about SGD 13.

If you have used Korean pads before you will know the difference. Some of my friends even asked me to buy a carton for them and ship to SG for them when im in Korea. They are made of cotton and really damn comfy. Better than those nylon netting ones that are commonly used.

Screen Shot 2016-07-03 at 3.34.34 PM

I think these 2 “towers” of pads can last me 2 years i guess. Some people said im getting to “ahjumma” ..because i cooked , i cleaned my own house and i do grocery shopping. Those who said that are mostly singles. Married women i met and know and are working mums or wives like me do not agree that  we are “ahjumma” just because we are more careful with how we spend and just because we clean the house and not hiring a maid to do so and go to the markets to do grocery shopping. This is our responsibility as a wife. Even though we are working and we can afford to spend doesn’t mean we have to spend what we have. Cash is still KING. We are not stingy ..we are careful with our monies and how we handle them. I handle the monies at home. Oppa is a saver but im a super saver so im the one in charge. I planned our saving plans , insurances and monthly expenses. He can see an increase in his savings after i did his planning.

Also i want to add that i really pei fu those working mums. Some of them can work and take care of the house for years. I just started for 2 months and im quite drained. I reached home after 8pm everyday because of appointments . Once i reached home , i will clean the house abit and do the laundry before i shower and sleep. And i wake up at 745am everyday to make breakfast before i prepare for work. Tired ?..yes..but i will not complain…

Now im learning to cook more dishes and more healthier choices. Diet and life style is what caused alot of young people these days to fall sick or diagnosed with illnesses. Some of my clients are so young and already diagnosed with illnesses. Some are young parents. When i met them and did planning for them i also felt very heart pain.

Take a break if you need to. Health is everything.

Alot of joys this week also..some of my friends and clients gave birth. And i feel excited planning for the little ones. I dont know when but we are thinking of trying for kids maybe next year.

Times flies…it is 430pm now and i need to pack my bag for my team trip to Kukup in JB.

Have a good weekend !

ROM location- Done.

Catering – Done

Venue styling – Done

Flowers – Done

Now just need to file notice of marriage with ROM and book my JP.

Yup we are having a cozy and intimate ROM ceremony in SG and the main wedding will be in Korea.

Everything is almost done.

Make up and hair – Make up artist and lash technician booked with Lushlashh. Wendy will be my make up artist. She did my lashes for my pre wedding shoot. The lash studio is located at Arcade (Raffles Place). Lol..when i feel tired and want to take a nap , i will go find her to do my lashes. So i can sleep for an hour and wake up with beautiful eyes.

Btw i just bought the Laneige concealer cushion and also the highlighter cushion! I love it!

C360_2016-04-29-12-05-46-533

Red Cheongsam – done and waiting for last minute touches.

Hair coloring – Booked appointment with Joanne @ Hair Affairs. I have been going to her to get my hair done. She did my hair colour for my pre-wedding shot. The make up artists in Korea and everyone said the colour is very nice and looks good for phototaking. So it was a good choice made by Joanne !  Her salon is located conveniently at Chevron House ( Raffles Place ). So sometimes i popby over lunch hours or tea time to get my hair cut.

Actually i have quite a number of things to share. But too many things on my mind. Work…wedding prepp…cleaning the house…what groceries do i need to buy…have i paid this and that bill…and what to cook.

Yes talking about what to cook….well we just moved to a rented place recently.

So yup , i have been waking up at 745am in the morning to make breakfast , dish washing and bring in the laundry before i prepare for work.

Yes..very tiring. So i really pei fu those ladies who can work and look after house at the same time. My sat morning is all about grocery shopping , vacuum and cleaning the house. After that ….totally no energy already.

So last week , i went to Korean supermarket. It is soooo hard to find a good Korean supermarket and those good one which stocks up all Korean made sauces etc are so far far west. Mostly are at Bukit Timah area.

So yup …i shall name some of my posts as #sgahjumma ( meaning SG auntie ). Married women in Korea are called Ahjummas. It does not necessarily mean “auntie” but it is just a term for married women. SG Ahjumma #sgahjumma posts shall be about my cooking and life as a wife of a Korean.

So now have K-beauty (Korean beauty and make up) , SG Ahjumma (Food and Lifestyle) and Smart Lady ( Finance ).

Speaking of which , i haven’t blog much about K-beauty lately. Because to be honest im still using the same brand and skincare from Hera and Sulwhasoo. For hair care , im still using Korean shampoos and recently my mother in law bought me boxes of hair packs from Cha Hong which i will blog about it later after i took pics of it. Cha Hong is a famous celebrity hair stylist in Korea and she came up with her own haircare line.

Well , back to SG Ahjumma lol.

Yup so i shopped at Korean mart and bought alot of sauces and spices.

Here are the staples for Korean food cooking. You definitely need Soya Sauce , Sesame oil , Vinegar and Salt. I keep a bottle of soju in the fridge to marinade with meat to get rid of the strong “meaty” or “porky” smell.

With these sauces,  you can whip most of the basic dishes already. Btw there are 2 types of soy sauces. One is for soup and one for normal cooking.

DSC03321

But it is hard to find them. That is the problem. There are so many Korean marts in town but none of them have the entire and full range of sauces available. So i have to go to NTUC to buy the chilli pepper flakes from CJ , sauces from Shine supermarket and Lotte Mart and the rest from Sol Mart.

This was the first meal i cooked at our new place.

Kimchi Soup and Norweigan Salmon in lemon butter sauce.

1) Kimchi Jiggae

Sliced pork belly , garlic , green chilli peppers and Kimchi. I had cravings for Tofu so i added some tofu also.

There is no need to add any red chilli pepper paste ( gokchujang ) or the chilli flakes.

DSC03220A

Firstly , boil water and add in some medium size ikan billis. After the water boiled for about 5 minutes , remove the ikan billis. Keep the water aside.

Fry the pork belly slices in a non-stick pot.

DSC03222

Once the pork bellies are cooked , add in Kimchi and the Kimchi juice (the leftover sauces in the kimchi packets/tubs).
Those sauce is the essence.  We call it Kimchi juice. It is the essence that makes the soup nice.

Fry the kimchi and the pork belly for 5 minutes and then add the juice form the kimchi pack/tubs.

DSC03223

After that , stew it on medium heat for about 5 minutes. There should be a very very nice fragrant.

After that , add in the boiling water which was set aside after throwing away the ikan billis.

DSC03225

Add in Tofu or golden mushrooms , tunas or Spams if you want after that.

Let the whole pot of Kimchi soup simmer at low heat for about 30 minutes.

And then it is ready to be served ! On simple days , you can just cook this soup , fry 2 sunny side ups and rice to eat. Simple and easy.

Decided to eat at the balcony cos it was cooling and raining.

DSC03229

And i steamed salmon too ! Very proud of this haha because it is my first time to make steamed salmon fillet.

I adde lemons , ginger , onions and butter. But i first marinate the salmon with soy sauce , salt and pepper.

DSC03235

And i made bean paste soup the next day too. Very easy and just took 30 minutes.

You need to buy the bean paste.

DSC03240

Because we do not have a rice cooker at home yet (brother-in-law will bring from Korea for us in Sept..because my fiance only believes in that particular Korean rice cooker brand) , i replaced rice with Korean sweet potato noodles.

I made a mistake to boil it together with the bean paste soup. Because the noodle soaked up alot of soup..

DSC03241

So it ended looking abit dry. And i have to prepare the soup broth again with the bean paste and boiling water to top it up.

DSC03242

Ingredients for the soya bean paste soup.

Not in the picture are lala and minced garlic.

DSC03239

Everything is so yummz and easy to make.

Im really becoming SG Ahjumma already.

Btw , if you are looking for quality meat for Korean bbq at home , you should head down to K&J Butchery which is located conveniently infront of beauty world MRT. It is opened by a Korean and you can find really yummy Pork bellies. I just held a housewarming and ordered 5 trays of pork bellies. Cost about $116 for 5 trays about 7 or 8kg but it is damn good. Everyone loves it. 2nd floor of the butchery is a Korean mart. You can buy all your sauces , lettuces etc for your home made Korean BBQ there.

Getting abit hungry after blogging all these food !

Im addicted to this new variety show called Same Bed , Different Dreams.
It is a very interesting show..so you must definitely watch it !

So dead tired now. Reach home at about 9pm daily , do some housework and laundry.

Too tired..sometimes i want to blog and share some things but too tired to do so and kept postponing the blogging. Until to the point that i forgot what i want to blog and share liao. I haven’t even plan and make the bookings for my relatives and friends who are flying to Busan for my wedding in Oct. GOSH ! I just realized it.
Really need to write down what i need to do on a paper and strike them off one by one !
Haven even decided on the photos yet. Just managed to filter those we like from the 1800++ pics. And now need to finalize all of them.

But next up gonna be on K-beauty and Smart Lady posts. So sorry, i know some of you emailed me to request that i share this and that but too many things and i lost track what to share. You can email me at peonykisblog@gmail.com if you have any questions!
